Hello will be staying at club quarters on clay street Embarcardero. I%26#39;ll be flying into Oakland. Is there a website where I can plug in my starting and ending points for public transportation. I%26#39;ve found the bart.gov website for taking bart from the airport to the hotel. I%26#39;d like to be able to get all this info for visiting sites namely, AT%26amp;T park, Oakland coliseum, golden gate, and alcatraz. Also are there any good nightspots around the hotel area?
ground transportation questions
1. The website generating door to door public transportation directions is 511.org. The specific URL is %26lt;http://transit.511.org/tripplanner/index.asp%26gt;
2. Keying in the names for your destinations (individually) into this forum%26#39;s search box will yield recent message threads discussing public transportation options for all of your mentioned destinations including the Club Quarters hotel.

Also, be advised that the transit.511.org site can still be a bit buggy.
I%26#39;ve used it sometimes quite easily, and loved it and I%26#39;ve banged my head into the wall a few times marveling at its ';bass-ackwardness,'; so keep in mind that some dedicated sites may be better.
Also, a feature I absolutely LOVE: Inside SF, for a good time (so to speak), call 415-673-MUNI. A real human being answers and is always knowledgeable about MUNI routes. You can literally say, ';I%26#39;m at this corner and I want to go to this location,'; and get directions on what MUNI routes and how to get to the stops.

You can go learn ';How to get THERE! from HERE?'; by clicking on the San Francisco Municipal Railway logo at http://geocities.com/touringsfo/
Or, as already suggested, call ORdway 3-MUNI.
All the above answers are good, I%26#39;ll just add one more point.
Depending how long you%26#39;ll be in SF consider getting a MUNI pass (they have a few varieties designed for non-locals 3-day? %26amp; 1 week?). The price sound expensive, but if you%26#39;re riding a couple of times a day and add something for the pure convenience factor, they%26#39;re definitely worthwhile.
Also, if you%26#39;re there long enough and museums have any interest consider/check out getting a Citypass. Combines a bunch of %26#39;free'; museum tickets with a (week?) public transportation pass. To me the best thing is that once you paid for the pass (and the transit pass makes about 1/2 the pass price worthwhile), you%26#39;ve got bunch of museum passes that are all greatly discounted.
I really appreciated it when I had about an hour to kill (waiting for friends/family to arrive in the area) and I went ahead and did the SFMOA; absolutely would have not done it if I%26#39;d have had to pay the full (18?) price ticket. But, since it was ';paid for'; I went in and spent about an hour or two seeing a photo exhibit I had wanted to see (100th anniversery of the %26#39;06 quake) and a few other things that peaked my interest).
Anyway, hope this is helpful
