Sausalito

I%26#39;ve been reading a lot of posts on here today.(planning trip to SF next year and just started to read the forum!Great ideas and advice)Some people have been talking about Sausalito...what exactly is it? Like a little town, or a touristy place like the Fisherman%26#39;s Warf?

Sausalito

It is an amazingly beautiful small city tucked against the bay with really spectacular views across the bay to San Francisco. There are art galeries and funky shops. Try a sunset dinner at an open air restaurant - a very special evening for sure.

P.S. It%26#39;s where Fleetwood Mac recorded %26#39;Rumors';. :)

Sausalito

Thanks so much...I really am clueless about the world! LOL

Good place to stop for a short visit and stroll and then go off to Muir Woods.

Cutecass: We like to stay in Sausalito or neighboring towns across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco when we vacation in the Bay area. The weather is a little nicer than the city itself, the flowers and landscaping are beautiful, it can feel less crowded and noisy than the city, yet you can hop a ferry and be in the heart of San Francisco in a few minutes. Or it%26#39;s a great springboard to hiking in the nearby mountains, going to see redwoods, nice beaches or wine country. Sausalito has a best kept secret downtown area called Caledonia Street which is away from touristy galleries and t-shirt shops and offers bookstores, movie theater, and other shops and real people just going through life%26#39;s routines. And you can stroll around multi-million dollar historic homes with great gardens up in the residential hills and see the wonderful views of SF and bay.
