Gondola Question

Hello,

Looking for input for which gondola ride is more romantic - the one at Newport Beach or the one at Naples. Any opinions and/or suggestions?

thanks in advance!

Gondola Question

Can%26#39;t advise on the Newport Beach gondolas, but I have done the one at Naples. It was wonderful and romantic. It%26#39;s been a few years but the memory of it still brings a smile to my face. Have a good time!

Gondola Question

Naples/Italy? I would assume they are more romantic, the buildings over there are hundreds of years old. The oldest building you will see in newport is maybe from the 50%26#39;s, 1950%26#39;s that is.

I have done the one in Newport..and loved it. There are several companies that do this. Each has different boats and different ';programs';. I used the Gondola Company of Newport Beach. Our gondolier sang, we were given blankets, wine, cheese and crackers. It was very romantic. Which was nice in the evening, all the very, very expensive homes have their lights on and you can get a glimpse of the insides of the homes..So exquisite. We did our ride during the Christmas boat parade. As we passed each of the docks to the homes, the residents greeted us, sang to us or offered us drinks. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone.

forgot to add is that you can also arrange to be picked up at any of the restaurants that line the harbor after dinner. Don%26#39;t know exactly which ones, but I bet the Cannery (a real nice place) is one of them. They have a dock to the restaurant for ';take out'; and boat parking. Ahhh...how the rich live!

Alex,

Naples, CA not Italy of course, in the Long Beach area. The company is called Teh Gondola Getaway. The one in Newport I am considering is the Gondola Company of Newport.

Thanks!

oops, that should read ';The Gondola Getaway';

Haven%26#39;t been to the one in Newport, but can vouch for Gondola Getaway. Very romantic and best time to go is sunset/evening. These are the most popular times though, so try to book far in advance. They provide cheese, crackers, cold cuts and even wine (we brought our own bottle, however).

We had a young gondolier who completely butchered his attempt to sing ';Time to Say Goodbye'; but it was all fun.

BTW, they also offer much larger boats if you go with a small group.
