I was wondering if I stay in the union square area, how long should I allow for visiting the golden gate and alcatraz? These would be the two main attractions I%26#39;d want to see. I%26#39;d wanna tour AT%26amp;T park also.
Is the presidio army museum really worth seeing? the bay bridge?
I%26#39;m trying to decide how much time it takes to do these things before I settle on an itinerary. Thanks
time questions
Golden Gate depends a lot on your method of transportation. If you%26#39;re driving, you could include the Army Museum pretty easily.
Alcatraz will take a morning.
If you visit the ballpark you%26#39;ll pass directly under the Bay Bridge
time questions
irocguy88 asked «Is the presidio army museum really worth seeing?»
It was! But at the time of the turnover of the Presidio from the Army to the National Park Service, it was gutted.
In spite of its name, it was really a museum of San Francisco history with marvellous models and dioramas. They%26#39;re gone! So are many of our other treasures that were there.
Colonel Wye Spaulding was devastated as was Jane Cryan, preserver of the post-%26#39;Quake shack that may be seen behind it. Her wonderful and carefully book about them, ';Hopechest';, remains unpublished.
A crime has been committed but neither charges nor convictions have come down.
I, along with Colonel Spaulding and Ms. Cyan, am sick about it.
I rarely correct my carelessnesses but this one%26#39;s needed:
«carefully book» should be ';carefully researched book';. Sorry.
My transportation method is public. I%26#39;d love recommendations on what to use for Golden gate, AT%26amp;T, Alcatraz, and across the bay to the Oakland Coliseum for a game as well as the Oakland airport. Perhaps this helps with your time estimates. It sounds like the army museum can be skipped or put last on the priority list. Thanks alot
