Hi, I%26#39;m looking to go to LA for a week, i%26#39;m wondering if anyone could tell me how much travelling around LA might cost? i%26#39;m looking to go around hollywood and the beach and maybe also Home Depot Center (any other places if you might recommend), what%26#39;s the best place to stay for convinient travel around as well?
another thing, what%26#39;s the rule about tipping in hotels?
Thanks for your help :)
Visiting LA
For tipping rules, type TIPPING below the NARROW green stripe above and click GO.
If you are not hiring a car, the metro DAY PASS costs $5 and includes unlimited rides on the metro buses and metro rail. See our FAQs section at the top of the L.A. Topic List for info on public transit..
Getting to the HOME DEPOT CENTER is time-consuming and takes several buses in succession. Taxis are expensive ($2.45 per mile).
Beverly HIlls is the most central location but it is expensive. Consider Hollywood as a ';next best'; alternative as it is a crossroads of both the metro rail and metro bus systems.
Visiting LA
If you are not driving, get a metro daypass, as mentioned above it%26#39;s only $5 and explore the city. Map out what you like to see and use the metro tripplaner at www.metro.net , type in your starting/ending point and it will tell you exactly how to get there and how long it will take
i have heard many stories about how dangerous it is in downtown LA and chinatown in LA, is it true?
Nope, downtown is statistically one of the safest area in the city.
downtown LA is safe and is going through a renaisance right now. Crime in LA has gone down overall. As always, just use common sense when visiting any big city.
