Hi,
I have read the reviews on this hotel and it sounds great in a good location (noise apart).
I was wondering if anyone had any views on this hotel, it%26#39;s location and it%26#39;s suitability for sightseeing San Francisco for four days.
Thanks

Coventry Motor Inn on Lombard Street.
It%26#39;s a motel. The location%26#39;s fine if you%26#39;re driving. If you%26#39;ll be using public transportation, Union Square is vastly superior.
The FLAG/MAPS page geocities.com/touringsfo/鈥lagMaps.html has links to the best on-line MAP of San Francisco, the outstanding WALKER/BICYCLIST map that shows the steepness of our streets. The new version of the formerly superb map created for the San Francisco Municipal Railway has removed many streets%26#39; names making it less useful. It%26#39;s cluttered with our many bus, cable car, street car, and bus routes. There is also a map of our CABLE CAR ROUTES, our 49-mile SCENIC DRIVE, and a superb map of GOLDEN GATE PARK.

The Coventry is one of several motor lodges along the Lombard Street corridor that I often mention for those interested in lodging that comes with free parking. We frequently recommend these places when you have a car. Many people stay in them even when they don%26#39;t have a car, since they are in a popular residential neighborhood with a lively commercial district. It%26#39;s close to Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf and the northern area of the city where the GG Bridge and marina are.
It is not near Union Square or the Ferry Building -- though Union Square etc. are all easy enough to get to -- and if you want that experience, you will not find it outside your front doorstep. But it is a fine location, and many choose it because of its free parking with the lodging.
