Hi all,
We have reservations for a rental with Avis in San Francisco (returning car to LA). We haven%26#39;t had to pay anything and as the time is getting close, I am now worried. I always feel if I have some or all my money paid, I have some assurance that all will be well. Has anyone else rented in this way. All other sites make you pay when you book.
Thanks (only 7 more sleeps)

Avis Rent a Car
as long as you have a reservation number, your credit card will not be charged anything until you actually rent the rent. Some companies may authorize $100 more than the actual rental until you return the car.
Avis Rent a CarWe%26#39;ve never paid in advance. I always print out my confirmation to take with me to verify that I%26#39;m charged the right price. This has come in handy more than once. I also bring my auto insurance card with me on vacation just in case. Luckily, I%26#39;ve never needed it.
Thanks all, however, the booking is made without any credit card details being taken, but I will be assured by what you have said.
Thanks
C
i agree ,the car rental companies do NOT take your credit card info before you actually get to the place from which you are renting.
Just be aware that as a non-U.S. citizen you will probably have to purchase the optional insurance coverage. (I believe Avis discloses this on their website as soon as you disclose your country of citizenship). Often, travelers from Europe get a better deal when they pre-arrange the car hire through a car brokerage company that provides the insurance coverage as well. Try YESCARHIRE.COM for a comparable bid.
Good luck!
