Staying at the Palace Hotel starting onTuesday for three days. Can anyone recommend affordable places to have breakfast near there? How about lunch? Dinner?
Breakfast near the Palace Hotel?
How do you define ';affordable';? The Garden Court in the Palace Hotel has breakfast, with a buffet at $27 and various other items starting around $15 or so.

But perhaps you%26#39;ve spent all your money on the hotel room; if so, there is a McDonald%26#39;s practically next door.
Breakfast near the Palace Hotel?
Alas, that is the problem--I have no money, only children (3 of them)! My stay at the Palace is courtesy of Starwood Points which I earned booking meetings with Westin.
So $27 by 5 of us gets to be a bit pricy over three days--Somewhere north of $400 with taxes and gratuities....
Thus I seek cheap eats!
For breakfast, you%26#39;re probably better off heading toward Mission St.. There%26#39;s a Specialty%26#39;s on New Montgomery and a bagel shop on Mission. There are a lot of cafes for a muffin and coffee.
The hotel is in the financial district, so there are a ton of lunch spots around. B%26amp;M is a bustling two-story Chinese lunch place on 2nd bet. Market %26amp; Mission. There are also burrito and burger places on that block. There%26#39;s a decent international food court on Kearney and Bush but that%26#39;s further away. There are also the usual fast food outlets.
Dinner might be a little tougher since a lot of Financial District restaurants close up at night. Henry%26#39;s Hunan on Natoma and 2nd is very good. But this is SF with some of the highest restaurant density in the US; bad restaurants usually don%26#39;t stay in business.
In the morning I%26#39;d suggest heading over to the Ferry Building area...
and do your own picnic. Buy some fresh fruit, get some great pastries from another vendor; perhaps coffee and some drinks and enjoy one of the tables outside with a wonderful view of the Bay Bridge.

For evening, I%26#39;d suggest going to Chinatown for one of the nights.
There are many small restaurants that have family style meals for relatively inexpensive $.
For lunch go to Fisherman Wharf....there is both the Boudin Bakery (clam chowder) and also other walk-up stands to get some fish for lunch and enjoy the area. Clam chowder would also work for an evening meal.

Also, you might want to have pizza another night/

There are places to eat at (inexpensive pizza dinner) as well as free delivery services that can deliver to your hotel.
Across market street from the palace is Lee%26#39;s deli. they have good high quality low cost grub for breakfast and lunch. It%26#39;s a take away only joint so you can get your food and have a picnic on the steps with the bike messengers. I often stop on my way to work for a toasted ham egg and cheese sandwich. they also do a fine roast turkey (from the bird, not the water injected loaf variety) it cost about 4 bucks. check it out.
Some of the bagel places in the area are also good alternatives (there%26#39;s a Noah%26#39;s nearby, but can%26#39;t give you exact directions).
For lunch you might check out the little alley of eating places between the Embarcadaro Hyatt and Embarcadaro Center. They%26#39;re mostly geared for the lunch work crowd (i.e. local) so they don%26#39;t have tourist gouging prices. Also, there%26#39;s an Escape from NY pizza place near there that also has reasonable pizza by the slice (which should appeal to the kids in your party).
Hope it%26#39;s worthwhile,
