Will be visiting San Diego end of Aug. Was going to a wedding in Del Mar and staying there but it has been cancelled. We are still planning to visiting but don%26#39;t need to stay in del mar. Where in San Diego should we stay. Want a moderate place . Near the water if possible. Would you suggest staying in del mar anyway?
Nice motel in good area
%26#39;Moderate'; is subjective term. Can you give me a price range? Will you have a car? What are your exact dates? This is a very busy time so makeing a reservation quickly is probably a good idea.
Do you already have a res in delMar/?If you do then dont cancel it until you find another res.
Nice motel in good area
Yes i have a res in del mar at the marriott del mar - its 209 a nite and i didn%26#39;t want to spend more than that in san diego. we will be there aug 24th for 3 nights. Any nice suggestions?
Check out the hotels/motels in Shelter Island. Humphreys, Island Palms and the Bay Club. Not terribly expensive for San Diego, and Shelter Island is a great jumping off point to anywhere you want to go whether it%26#39;s downtown, Coronado, La Jolla etc. Very close to everything. We stayed at Humphreys and had a nice time and they have small to larger rooms depending on how big your party is. Have fun!
Jerseydad had some good ideas. The Shelter Island area is pretty, overlooking SanDiegoBay,quiet, restaruants nearby and in you r price range. It would be easy to get around to all the sights from there.
YOur DelMar hotel is not really in DelMar but outside it not far from the freeway. this chnage to Shelter island would giv eyou the opportunity to be in a pretty area closer nto town.
There also seems to be availabliity in your price range downtown. theEMbasy suites-downtown,the Westgater Hotel(European elegance) and the Gaslamp Marriott (no pool0 have rooms under $200. IF you stayed there you could get away without the car.
Have been looking around - Humphrey%26#39;s looks nice but was thinking of something on the beach. Any recommendations in La Jolla or San Diego. Thanks.
We do not have a lot of hotels actually ON the beach. Therea re some but many are extremely pricy. In the neighborhod of LaJolla (still part of the city of SD) the Inn by the Sea(Best Western) ,which is a couple of blocks from the beach at Lajollacove ,has availabity in you rprice range. At LaJolla Cove you will find a series of small, rock enclosed(cove) beaches with a grassy park above them. There are many restaurants, boutiques and art galleries in walking distance.
Beachfront ,at Pacific Beach t here is the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge. The other beachfront hotels here are more expensive. this is a wide ,white sandy beach with a cement path alongside for walking, biking etc. There a re many relaxed restaurants and beachy bars. It is a very popular beach with the college age crowd.
InCoronado, which is across the bay form downtown SanDiego and ahs a small town feel. there is the Glorietta Bay Inn .This is an old mansions with modern suites in the courtyard .It is across the street from the famous HotelDelCoronado and a wide beautiful quiet ,white sandy beach. The inn has won awards in travel magazines and they have rooms available inyour pirice range. It is a short drive over a no toll bridge, or a 15min passenger ferry ride, into downtown SanDiego where the zoo Balboapark and all the downtown restuaratns are at your finger tips.
