Southern California City Pass - Costco

Hey again everyone!

I must surely be getting to the end of my queries - nearly all of our holiday has now been booked and I%26#39;m now down to the bits and pieces!

After searching google for the Southern California City Pass, it appears that Costco has it for US$204.99 instead of the usual $235 per adult.

HOWEVER I can%26#39;t buy it as it looks like only US residents can purchase from Costco.

Also, I%26#39;m not sure if this price includes the taxes or not as I can%26#39;t get past the first screen (again - not a member!) - if it does then its a bargain, if not, then its around the usual price.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or could someone who has a costco account have a look at this for me and see if the taxes are added later??

OR, as we will be heading to Vegas first up - would we be able to purchase one of these tickets there??

Also - is Costco a giant supermarket/warehouse facility?? We don%26#39;t have it here in Australia!

Cheers!

Southern California City Pass - Costco

Costco is a membership supermarket and department store. I don%26#39;t know how many people are traveling with you but in order to buy the pass fro Costco, you%26#39;d have to either join Costco or pay a surcharge on the passes. The cheapest membership for U.S. citizens is $50. They do mention membership for other nationalities (call for info) but I%26#39;m sure that you would be paying more. If the membership for you was only $60, for example, it still wouldn%26#39;t amount to that much savings overall unless there were 3 or more of you.

If you don%26#39;t join, there is a 5% surcharge on the tickets PLUS you have to pay shipping fees. 5% on $204.99 = $10.25 so that reduces your savings to about $20 per ticket but then you have to pay shipping (I don%26#39;t know how much that is).

Also, there are reports that Costco is not selling the pass in their California stores. So, if you bought it online, I%26#39;m not sure that you could have it mailed to you in time.

Consider buying the pass elsewhere:

1. Buy it online from Universal Studios. Although the price is the regular $235, you get the following benefits:

a. You can buy it online instantly (no driving around, waiting in line, joining clubs).

b. You get a second day at Universal Studios free. This way, if your schedule gets switched around and you get to Universal late one day, and you can return on another day to finish up.

c. You get priority boarding passes for the free tram tour of the studio.

d. You get coupons worth over $100 (per ticket) toward food, drinks and more.

NOTE: if you buy from Universal%26#39;s website and print your tickets online, you must go to Universal FIRST to pick up the tickets to the other attractions. (If you weren%26#39;t planning on going to Universal first up, you can simply go there to pick up your other tickets and come back on another day).

Have a great holiday!
