The USOpen Road, November 15-26, 2007

Soliciting your recommendations and/or advice for my annual jaunt to the SouthLand.

On Thursday the Fifteenth, I%26#39;ll dine at Monterey%26#39;s Fish House and dance at Sly McFly%26#39;s on Cannery Row.

The next day last year I danced at the Granada Pavilion, Valley Beth Shalom on Saturday (I won%26#39;t return if the band%26#39;s JustUss), Top Cats (Placentia) on Sunday, The Borderline (Thousand Oaks) on Monday, Top Cats on Tuesday (Placentia), Wednesday danced at the USOpen hotel in Anaheim.

Should I return to those places? Dance at other places?

Any chance of catching a Chester Whitmore %26amp; Opus Big Band gig? Any other Big Band gigs around town?

Daytimes last year I visited the Huntington Library (finally!), the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, didn%26#39;t get in to the Getty Villa (Should I retry? I was there before the refurbish.), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Knott%26#39;s Berry Farm. Am considering DisneyLand this year.

At last week-ends dance convention at Lake Tahoe, it was suggested I visit the California Museum of Art in Pasadena

Thursday, November 22-Sunday, November 25. The US Open Swing Dance Championships in Anaheim.

The Following Monday I%26#39;ll dine and dance at the Madonna Inn, as usual, in San Luís Obispo and leave there %26#39;round Midnight to get home around 3:30.

By the way, last year I spent a night at the Hacienda Hotel in El Segundo. It%26#39;s an excellent hotel that pays great attention to detail. I like it much more than most of the convention hotels where we stay.

Knock, knock. Anyone home?

Hello? Angelinos?

Ok, Ok.... we%26#39;re awake! We sleep in a little around here.

Don%26#39;t know if this helps or not, but here goes......

Here in Thousand Oaks the Borderline is pretty much the only place for dancing. I have not been there as my 2 left feet would rather be anywhere else than dancing. It%26#39;s been know to be a fun place to dance at.

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza has the following shows scheduled within your time period.

Nov. 15 and Nov 16 will have Michael Flatley%26#39;s Lord of The Dance show. Both shows are at 8 pm

Nov. 17 has the Legends of Rock %26amp; Roll with Frankie Avalon and Bobbie Rydell and the Shangri La%26#39;s. Starts at 8:15

On the 18th there is a wind ensemble concert. Starts at 2:30 pm. I have no idea what kind of wind they will be performing.

Hope this helps ! Can I go back to sleep now???

Probably no responses because, for me anyway, I know absolutely nothing about the dance spots you mentioned, and asked about. I didn%26#39;t know there were big band spots in LA (well, I guess there aren%26#39;t because you%26#39;re going to Placentia and Thousand Oaks!).

I will say that it%26#39;s always great to revisit the Getty Museums (both), and LACMA, and to try to get to MOCA, too.

For many years, I%26#39;ve danced there the Monday %26#39;fore ThanksGiving as I shall this year.

Yes, the fault is mine. I%26#39;m fairly well informed on where to dance. My query in this forum unclearly was about daytime activities. I shoulda deleted the dance stuff. Guilty as charged!

«it%26#39;s always great to revisit the Getty Museums (both),»

As I have (well, not the Villa)

«LACMA»

As I have.

«MOCA»

Whuzzat? Where?

I think I wasn%26#39;t being impatient.
