Hi
I am planning a trip for next September. I鈥檒l be driving from the Napa area to Yosemite. I need some suggestions on lodging. This will be my first visit. Sound I stay in the Yosemite Valley for two nights and then a night in Wawona? I want to see all the major sites and do some hiking. I also want to see the big trees. After Yosemite I hope to travel onto Monterey.
If I reserve lodging now, Is it possible to cancel if I find something else. I just want to make sure I have a place to stay.
Thanks
suggestions on lodging
First of all, yes, you can book and cancel if need be. But don%26#39;t do that to your friendly B%26amp;B owners, should you choose to go that route!
Staying in the valley 2 days and in the Wawona area for one is an excellent way to see the best of the park. Have you checked out this Inside Page for more detailed info?

Your route from Napa to Monterey would take you into the park on 120, then stay in or near the valley, then head south on 41 and stay in or near Wawona. You could then continue out of the park on 41 where you would catch 145 through Madera to 99 N. to 152 which would take you to Monterey.

You do not mention how many days you will be in CA. If you have time and want to see the big trees there is a grove in Yosemite, however to really get a sense of awe for a giant sequoia I suggest going to Sequoia National Park. It is South of Yosemite and would add 3 days onto your trip. Travel time plus time to explore allocate 3 days.
Bicky2, the National Park concessionaire, DNC, has a website that seems to handle cancellations and moved reservations fairly well. www.yosemitepark.com.
Have a great trip!

This was my plan鈥?but it鈥檚 not set in stone yet鈥?as I am looking for suggestions鈥? San Francisco (2 nights), Napa (two nights), Yosemite (2 nights), Wawona (one night), Monterrey (two nights).. Then possibly Half Moon Bay (one night) I may be able to add one more night to my itinerary鈥?but I will be flying from the east coast and travel may take up two full days鈥? I鈥檓 open for any suggestions鈥?Thanks!
becky, Keep going south to:
1-2 nights San Luis Obispo
2 nights Santa Barbara
2 nights Luguna Beach
2 nights San Diego
Now thats if you have the time is THE perfect California Vacation!!!
Have a good trip....
Thanks h2omelen鈥?I would love to continue south but I am flying in and out of San Francisco and only have 10 (possibly 11 days)
becky, Make sure when you are in Monterey you go to Carmel (some call it Carmel by the sea) less then 10 miles from Monterey, you will love it. Thats were we stay when up there. It%26#39;s a BEAUTIFUL town.
Sorry, I see its B I cky
Thanks 鈥? I want to explore Monterey and the surrounding areas for about two days鈥? I鈥檓 mostly interested in hiking along the coast and possibly kayaking 鈥?would you recommend staying in Carmel by the Sea over Monterey? If so can you recommend a place to stay?
Yes, You should stay in Carmel over Monterey, but thats only my personal opinion. i%26#39;ve stayed at the Cypress Inn and Carmel Village Inn several times at each
Go to: carmel by the sea.com click on lodging, then click on Inns
also carmel.com
Don%26#39;t forget Monterey is only minutes from Carmel if thats were you end up staying.
