Motel Via Mar on Pacific Highway

Hi All: Please help a bewildered Bostonian get her groove on. My husband%26#39;s best friends love to visit Encinitas. So we are going at a time when they cannot come with us. So...they love the Motel Via Mar (which sounds pretty shabby to me). It is on the Pacific Beach Highway and they love the location. Can anyone clue me in? I don%26#39;t want to stay at a horrible place just %26#39;cuz they love it. Any suggestion for another hotel/motel with kitchenette by the water. Thanks a mill!

Anne

This motel has no reviews that I can find anywhere. It only costs about$60 per night so you cannot expect it to be even close to3*** for that price here!!

It%26#39;s actually Motel Villa Mar. I don%26#39;t know anything specifically about this motel, but most places within Encinitas are Motel type establishments. They mainly cater to the the surfing crowd with their cheap rates and great beaches/waves. If you want to stay in the area, then your other bets are Moonlight Beach Motel, Best Western or Days Inn also have motels nearby.

Just a little to the north you can try the Leucadia Beach Inn or Leucadia Inn by the Sea or a little more south there are a couple of Bed and Breakfasts (Seabreeze B%26amp;B, Cardiff by the Sea Lodge)

Sorry you%26#39;re not getting more info about the Motel Villa Mar. As a local, I%26#39;ve walked by it hundreds of times but have never stayed there, nor do I know anyone who has. It looks like a very basic but well kept up motel. The couple that runs it, the owners I think, are friendly to passers by. Definitely a great location for sightseeing, dining and shopping in Encinitas, but no ocean views or anything. A Google search found this article in the San Diego paper which might give you a bit of a feel for the place: signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20070525/news_1…

Accomodations in Encinitas do tend towards basic motels, but its a great little beach town to visit!

Hi - I don%26#39;t know if this will get to you too late, but a great little motel just two blocks from the beach called the Moonlight Beach Motel is very affordable and they do have kitchenettes.

My husband and I and our four kids stayed last spring and being that there are six of us, we usually have a hard time finding a room that can fit us all for a good price, especially with a kitchenette.

It is one of those old Pacific Beach Highway Motels that had it%26#39;s heyday in the 50%26#39;s, but is clean, comfortable, and only a little dated.

There is a patio with a couple of grills that guests can use and you can see the beach from there. The beach is nice too, in a little cove, well kept.
