Sorry for the delay...here%26#39;s the scoop thanks to many of your
suggestions.
Arrived Thurs.around noon and my son picked me up at the airport.
Went to LaJolla and had a nice lunch at Girard Gourmet Deli.
Ate outside and enjoyed the weather. He had to go back to school,
so I shopped for a few hours and then went to Seal Beach and
watched the ocean. (Fantastic). Picked me up around 5:30 and went to his apartment. Quickly got ready for dinner with collegues.
Friday, meetings in a.m. and then my son and girlfriend and a
few friends took the trolley to TJ. My son knew of a great place for
lunch (on the 2nd flr) and overlooked Avenue de Revolucion.
After lunch rode the mechanical bull and had a great time.
Took the trolley back then went to picked up our Avis rental car and
then picked up my husband at the airport. Went to check into our
hotel I booked on priceline, the Hyatt LaJolla @ $104. Very nice hotel, rooms were terrific but again the charge for the parking was
steep. Checked out the concierge lounge and relaxed. Got ready
and picked up my son and girlfriend and headed out to Little Italy.
Had dinner at Buen Appetito. Excellent.
Saturday morning we both attended meetings. In the afternoon we
drove to the charming town of Julian which was about 60 miles
away. It is beautiful and I hope still there after the fires. Had lunch
at the corner restaurant and then walked around. Not much time so
we picked up two julian pies to go from the Julian Pie Company.
Stopped at one of the wineries before we left town. In the evening
we attended the football game and then afterward crawled back
to our hotel.
Sunday we had brunch at Brockton Villa and I was very happy. This
is a new suggestion that I had never been at and it was terrific!
The view from the patio is outstanding and the french toast it fantastic!!!!! Afterward we drove to downtown SanDiego and spent
the afternoon touring the Midway.
Great weather and a great getaway. The only disappointment is that
when we took off on Sunday evening we could see the fires roaring
through the evening sky. What a tragedy.
Trip Report Oct 19-21
Glad you had a good visit and got out before the fire issue got too terrible.Brockton Villa is an old favorite at La Jolla Cove so glad you enjoyed it. Come back and visit again. We are still here (although many inland lost their homes)

area??? such a quaint town! Thanks
Julian was OK this time BUT the town of Ramona ,which we pass through on the way up there, was hit hard. Many homes destroyed/damaged and no running water until recently.

Ramona
