san diego family trip

Hi I was looking for a hotel recommendation for a family. Our kids are 10 and 8. We will be going to sea world.zoo,legoland. We are staying for 4 nights 1/9-1/13. Our price range is about $200 or less a night. We will be renting a car and understand parking is an issue. I have seen some holiday inns that have kid suites and the reviews are very mixed. I%26#39;d love some input on where to stay.

Thanks

The HOliday Inn Express-OldTown gets decent reviews. If you don%26#39;t want to pay for parking there is street parking in this neighborhood near OldTown State Park. It is centrally located between the zoo and SeaWorld . Legoland is a 40min drive north.

If you would consider upping you r price a bit then you could consider the Embassy Suites La Jolla which offers free cooked bkfst, afternoon wine an d munchies AND an indoor swimming pool., It is just inside your budget BUT prkng costs more

thanks for that information. Where would you recommend that doesn not have a suite, but just regular rooms?

Thanks for your help, this is our first time in San Diego and I am unfamiliar with it.

Thank you

The Oldtown neighborhood is a nice central area with restaurants and stuff to see as well. Here in SD the 4th grade students spend 1 week going to Old Town State Park to see a bit of Calif history.

There is a nice LaQuinta there as well which get sgood reviews.

Another area I like is Shelter Island (not really an island).this area is pretty with views of SanDiego Bay,wlakingbikingpath, playground etc. and is only abou t15min driving to downtown and t he zoo. There are low cost restuarants in driving distance(very near) Prices will vary in the hotels.There%26#39;s the BayClub ,and the Best Western Island Palms.

IF you don%26#39;t care about the area bein g scenic or interesting then you could try the hotels in MissionValley/hotel circle-reasonably priced but alongside th e busy freeway and not too walkable.

Crowne Plaza is one of the nicer hotels there but there are others like the DAysInn/Comfort Inn etc.
