we will be arriving at SF airport nov 14th around midday.........the flight from Ireland will be over 10 hrs so reckon we will catch a cab to our hotel near union sq.......how much should we expect to pay??????.....also whats public transport like from airport.....if its too much hassle with baggage etc would it be better to just hop in a cab???
Airport to city????
a cab from SFO to Union Square is about $45 (tip not included--add at least 15%, 20% if driver is helpful in loading your bags into the trunk, helping you enthusiastically) where you could pay much less taking BART. See: http://bart.gov/guide/airport/sfo.asp (there%26#39;s room on BART for those traveling with luggage)
if you post your hotel name, I can provide a little detail on the distance or exact station to get out.
Airport to city????
Take SuperShuttle. It was around $15 or $17 when I used it in SF. I got to my Union Square hotel in under 25 minutes.
Where do you pick up the SuperShuttle at the airport? Thanks.
You can pick it up when you get there. You%26#39;ll see several. Or you can reserve one in advance online at their website. It will be worth it if you%26#39;re alone. If you have several people in your party, it probably makes more sense to pay for a cab as the cost will be similar.
Cost around $5 by taking BART from the airport into the city.

thanks for all the advice.......we are booked into the mark twain Hotel on Taylor St........have been told this is close to Union Square so hope ur not gonna tell me its miles away!!!!!!!
The BART goes from inside the international terminal at SFO and goes straight into the centre of the city. It only costs $5 each and is very convinient.
The hotel isn%26#39;t too far from Powell Street station
dublintravel is «booked into the mark twain»
It%26#39;s three short blocks from Union Square.
From BART, it%26#39;s a short and easy walk up Powell to O%26#39;Farrell and then two blocks to the Left and across Taylor Street.
Taking the bart is the cheapest way to go but if you have suitcases may be more convenient to take a cab or supershuttle.
If you have 2 or more it may be better to just cab it, the shuttles go for $15 or so per person so for an extra $10 or so may be better to take a cab and not worry about any additional stops along the way (shuttles usually carries more than one group so it may stop at multiple places).
Since I go by myself I usually use the bart or the supershuttles.
