hi all,
I am looking for a find dining spot, with ocean view in Newport beach that is open on Sundays. Kindly make a couple of suggestions. Thanks a million.
Best find dining Newport beach with ocean view open Sundays?I would travel south to the Montage Resort in Laguna....fine dining and view at their Studio resturant.
Best find dining Newport beach with ocean view open Sundays?Not much fine dining with a true ocean view in Newport. There are a number of good places on the bayfront, but I there is not as much fine dining restaruant with a great ocean views (compared with Laguna Beach).
Your best option may be 21 Oceanfront (http://www.21oceanfront.com/home21.shtml).
It is a fancy seafood place that gets good reviews. It is right across the street from the beach, so the ocean views are pretty good.
There are a couple of nicer restaruants in Fashion Island where you can see the ocean from the dining room (P.F. Changs and Cheesecake Factory) but I wouldn%26#39;t describe them as fine dining and the views are not good enough to say that it is true ';ocean view dining.';
Also, there is Mastro%26#39;s Ocean Club in the Crystal Cove Promanade (opposite of Crystal Cove State Park) (azeats.com/mastros-html/oceanclub-main.htm), which looks like a pretty nice place. I have not been in there, but they probebly have a pretty decent (but not spectacular) ocean view. I would look into it further before choosing it though.
check out the just opened Pelican Grill at the Pelican Hill Golf Couse on Newport Coast -- really gorgeous place with a fantastic view.
I am going to Billys at the Beach this week. I will let you know how it is. Seems like fine dining is hard to fine these days as everything is California casual. I have heard it is fabulous.
This is what I pulled from a TA review:
From the valets out front to the hostess to each and every server I%26#39;ve had all have been friendly, polite, professional and seemed to genuinely be enthused with working at Billy%26#39;s. Laid-back yet elegant atmosphere with a gorgeous view of the harbor. You can%26#39;t go wrong being seated inside or outside on the patio.

Billy%26#39;s has a view but is NOT fine dining. The fare is quasi Hawaiian. Casual but expensive.
For fine dining with a great ocean view, I%26#39;d pick the restaurant at the Surf and Sand Hotel (sorry I don%26#39;t remember the name) in Laguna Beach.
It%26#39;s called Splashes...I have eaten there! It was all good but not my idea of fine dining either. Seems everything is California casual these days. Ruth Chris is one of my favorite haunts..expensive and good, yet again ~Tommy Bahama shirts and designer jeans abound! I remember when Five Crowns was fine dining..but that too is now California casual.
Maybe the Ritz Carlton, Montage or St. Regis (Stonehill Tavern - 4 stars) have fine dining. I have not eaten at any of these places. Maybe someone will let us know!
Hi,
I would definitely check out 21 Oceanfront, although it%26#39;s very expensive. In August , I enjoyed an amazing dinner at The Cannery (www.cannerynewport.com) There is not a ocean view, but it does sit on the water. I made reservations at opentable.com and they accomodated my request for patio/water seating. We spent around $150 including 2-3 drinks each/pp, 1 appetizer, entrees and desert. I heard they have an amazing brunch.
