Marriott SF

I will be arriving in SF Saturday 4-26-06 at noon and be going straight to Marin for 1 or 2 nights. I will move to SF get rid of my rental car and prepare to get on a Celebrity cruise ship Monday. I have Marriott points and would love if you could suggest which property. We can always cab to the ship. I am more interested in our location with proximity to everything else.

Thanks in advance and if you ever come my way maybe I can return the favor.

Marriott SF

psb - The Marriott on Mission and 4th St is central to everything, easy walking distance to Union Square and other attractions and at the center of all transportation. The bar at the top has a great view of the City.

Thank you. I cannot wait to getting back. I had the pleasure of living 1st in Inverness then Petaluma about 25 years ago. You live in a beautiful part of the world.

I looked at the property and it looks great. You think it is the best location?

Hi - We stayed at this Marriott in September for a week. It%26#39;s a great location and a lovely hotel. I definitely recommend it. Enjoy! Renish

S.F. has more than one Marriott, and I don%26#39;%26#39;t know specifics of each hotel. But you could hardly do better than this location. As everyone has said, it is within walking distance of all the downtown sights. You can walk to Union Square, shopping, dining, the cable cars, Chinatown, the interim Steinhart Aquarium, Yerba Buena Gardens and MOMA. It%26#39;s a longer walk or short ride to the Embarcadero and Ferry Building, Nob Hill, North Beach, or Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf, on a historic streetcar and/or cable car depending on where you%26#39;re going.

This is a busy area with all kinds of amenities, so whatever you need is right there. For instance (basic survival info), you can pick from two Walgreen%26#39;s within about a block, I think 24 hours, as well as a Rite-Aid.

There are people out and about constantly in this area, and transit runs almost 24/7 on some routes. You should feel comfortable coming and going at pretty much any hour.

I attended a conference at the Marriott SF (the one mentioned near MOMA) two years ago and I agree it had a great location. We did not stay there as it was overbooked. We stayed at a great small hotel a few blocks up the hill -- The Orchard. All I can say about the rooms at the Marriott are that many people at the conference complained about the rooms or the service and most thought they had paid too much for what they got. After hearing the complaints, we were very happy to have chosen the alternative hotel.

So, then, it matters little where you stay.

Of the Marriots, I%26#39;d choose the jukebox on Fourth Street. It ain%26#39;t Union Square but it%26#39;s not far therefrom.
