We live in the SF Bay area but would love to go somewhere where traditional winter activities take place - I saw that tenaya lodge in yosemite has such activities ($$$) but would like to know what else is out there. Wouldn%26#39;t mind leaving CA but can%26#39;t make it too far, maybe Nev., UT, etc. We%26#39;d love an old-fashion lodge with a roaring fire, sled rides, the whole';real deal';! If only Colonial Williamsburg wasn%26#39;t so far away!! TIA for your suggestions!
Ideas for a Christmas/Winter Wonderland stay...Have you looked into Lake Tahoe? Park City, UT? Aspen, CO? Vail, CO?
Ideas for a Christmas/Winter Wonderland stay...Sounds like you%26#39;d enjoy staying at the Black Bear Lodge, in Lake Tahoe. It has all the things you want.

Wow..that Black Bear Lodge is awesome. Is there another place like this that has cabins that can sleep a family of 5?
I would book in a heartbeat if someone knows of a place like that!
Hi. Can%26#39;t really reply to your question but have one of my own. Our family is travelling from Australia and will be in Newport Beach at Christmas. Are there any suggestions of places to have Christmas Lunch or Dinner in that area or in LA. We have no idea. Thanks.
Doris green,, Newport beach has the Christmas Boat Parade in Newport Harbor which is really fun and popular. Dinner with a harbor view (where the boats pass) would be ideal and something to talk about when you got home...but the restaurants often fill up quick so you would want reservations if possible. I once did a gondola ride in Newport during the boat parade and all the homeowners were on their dock singing to us. Very, very fun!
There are a good number of ski areas in the Sierras besides Tahoe including, Dodge Ridge on Highway 108, Bear Valley on Highwyay 4 and Kirkwood on Highway 88. All offer fun winter activities, but not the off hill diversity of choice for other activities and dining that Tahoe offers.
Just a note on Tenya Lodge, it isn%26#39;t really inside Yosemite, but outside the park along highwy 41, the Southern most entrance. If you wanted to see Yosemite you could possibly get rooms at Yosemite Lodge for your dates of travel, this property is in Yosemite Valley with the splendid views and is in a different price category than Tenya Lodge with access to Badge Pass ski area.
Have a great trip!
