Hi,
Looking to stay a couple of nights in Palm springs next month, (me %26amp; hubby) and all the hotels look fab, however can some one recommend a hotel thats quite close to resturants shops etc and has a nice big sunny pool to lounge away a few hours in the day.
big sunny pool in PS wanted
Check out the Westin Mission Hills Resort %26amp; Spa. I am going to a conference next month and since the other hotels were full -- I%26#39;m staying a few miles away here. Wow! Did I get lucky or what?
Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage --- you%26#39;ll see that the areas melt together. Check out the maps.
I can%26#39;t imagine a hotel in Palm Springs without a pool ...

If you want to stay IN Palm Springs, and not Rancho Mirage or Palm Desert ( which has the larger hotels )
look at the PS Sheraton, Spa and Wyndham all in the same block near downtown PS. For smaller options, Palm Mountain Resort has a good pool, the rooms are just adequate though. Same as Caliente Tropics.
Or you can go for a smaller boutique hotel which is mostly what you find in Palm Springs.
Otherwise, the pool area at the Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert is really nice as is the Renaissance in Indian Wells. Anything in Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert etc. is going to require a car to go anywhere.
check out the Wyndham
What about Las Brisas?
Ehh.
The property itself is ok, right for the money.
Some people like it, but it%26#39;s right on Indian Avenue and if you walk out the back you%26#39;re in a crappy neighborhood with run down apts and common crime.
I%26#39;ll second the Wyndham, but not on a holiday weekend! Try and get an upgrade to pool view, since overlooking the car park, not the best!
Take breakfast outside, and see the humming birds feed.
If you like Mexican food, there is a great restaurant between the hotel and the main street, on the left. I forget what it is called, but it has a courtyard where you can eat outside if you like.
Do take the cable car(aerial tramway!) to the top of the mountain and walk away from the station to enjoy ';the silence';. Please note it can get very cold up there, at 8,500feet!
Rent a condo at the Biarritz. Two blocks from the main street of Palm Springs, huge courtyard with very large pool, two tennis courts.
When we were there, it was full of snow birds from the UK.
how about Hotel Zozo, right in town near everthing walkable. Eat at Zin on Palm Canyon. Many small hotels on the west side of Palm Canyon, lots O%26#39; charm. I%26#39;d stay away from Rancho Mirage or Palm Desert, too far from Palm Springs, they all require a car, everything is a distance. Stay right in PS. The post about the Biarritz condos is great, get one inside, away from traffic noise. Nice large pool, cute little condo, again everything walkable.
nobody mentioned the viceroy?? any reason.. i%26#39;m also lookng to come out for a few nights in oct and the viceroy looks pretty nice.
check out the chase hotel, not a big fancy hotel ,but very nice and friendly people, great pool, great cookies too. Also only about two minute walk to Palm Canyon with plenty of restaurants and shops.
We have just booked again, that will be 5 years on the trot for us,so they must be doing something right.
