This Weekend

We will be arriving on Friday evening. Our plan was to head to Legoland on Saturday and the Wild Animal Park on Sunday. I know there is the big Comicon convention over the weekend, which was our main thought for heading to our furthest destinations. Will the traffic be very heavy on the weekends? We will be in SD until next Saturday and plan on doing all the normal tourist things since this is our first trip.

This Weekend

I am not sure where you are staying but if you are driving north on the I-5 to get to Legoland ,I would suggest you do that on a Tuesday.

Our DelMar racetrack is closed on Tuesdays so the normally heavy racetrack traffic will disappear on that day.

Other than that I%26#39;d pick the coolest day(temperature wise) to go to the Wild Animal Park as it is very hot out there.

This Weekend

On Friday night we are staying at the La Quinta Mission Valley, then we will be going to the Omni for a few days, then the last three days at the Del.

From th eLa Quinta MissionValley you can take local streets to get to the zoo an dBalboaPark etc. if that is on your to do list. It is north of the downtown /convention center area where Comicon is located so should not be impacted by traffic at all. YOu can also easily get to Seaworld. and Oldtown an dCabrillo National Monument etc. YOu will also be closest to the Wild Animal park.(8East to 15North) Hopefully , you are staying at the Omni starting on Sunday night or Monday which will be AFTER Comicon. The Omni is right downtown near the convention center.

I still say go to Legoland on Tuesday when DelMar is dark.

Thanks for all your help. I probably will change our itinerary and switch Legoland to Tuesday. All the things you mentioned our on our list any suggestions what would be best for Saturday? We move to the Omni on Sunday.

I%26#39;d probably go to the Wild AnimalPark on Saturday as LaQuinta is the closest to it and you will miss the commuter traffic on that day. I will say that since theWAP is the farthest inland it will also be the hottest ,so if temps there are 90-100 I would just skip it or go at night.

BalboaPark is busy on Sundays BUT there are also things happening there on that day that do not happen during the week-like th e international cottages are open, there is an organ concert and puppet shows etc.It%26#39;s also on your way downtown to theOmni.

If visiting Lajollacove is on your list ,you can do that on the way to or from Legoland
