Need to finalize my flights would like some specific airport help.
We are staying right in the center of Napa near COPIA on a Saturday for a 12:15 PM flight out of Sacramento Airport with a rental car to return, what time do I need to drive out of my b %26amp; b?
For comparison, what time do I need to pull out of b %26amp; b for a 12:07 out of SFO, also will have a rental car to return.
Thanks for your help!
Flight HelpI cannot really estimate time from napa to SFO, as i did not drive straight to the airport from napa, but I CAN tell you that you need to allow a LOT of time for returning your rental at SFO. You return at a specific area, then get on a tram that makes 2-4 stops before your terminal, then get off, go up several flights of stairs before you are even at the check in counter. I would STRONGLY recommend that one of you drop off the other with the luggage at the curb BEFORE you take the rental car back, then the other take the rental car and come back and meet the other person. We had four HEAVY bags and it was quite a haul with it all from the tram to check in. Good luck. Have fun!
Flight Helphsh427 or anyone else--just mapquested my inn%26#39;s address with driving directions to Sacramento and San Fran. Both just about equal distance and can get the same flight time. Sounds like it%26#39;s a smaller airport and also looks like an easier less busy route to drive it.
Is Sacramento Airport in a less busy area and smaller so easier to drop off rental, check in etc. Need to know ASAP so I can secure a flight.
Can%26#39;t get out of Oakland so down to these two airport choices.
As always, appreciate the help!
I have never flown in/out of Sacremento, but my guess would be that it would be easier to navigate/smaller, so if it%26#39;s the same driving time, I would go with that one...but others would know better than I.
thanks--I sent you a private message.
Hopefully, one of the locals will answer. Have a couple of trips I%26#39;m working on and trying to finish up all the pieces left on each! Need to do my flights for San Fran/Napa so I can do car. Then need to work on Winery/Dinner resies.
travelingfromTX-
Plan on 3 hours for the drive, rental car return, and check-in/security.
SMF (Sacto) is probably an easier drive/drop off/check in, but it really depends, as you can get stuck in some nasty traffic on the weekends (Fri going E, Sun coming W).
travelingfromTX, now that you have selected an Inn, why aren%26#39;t they helping you with these things?
We%26#39;re happy to help folks-- but we%26#39;ve literally answered more than two dozen of your posts now, and to be honest, we%26#39;re getting worried.
We feel very weird helping with all this stuff, as it means we are going behind the backs of some other innkeepers in town. And that just isn%26#39;t cricket-- if they knew we were helping you with all this stuff, they%26#39;d be mad at us. This is what they do-- we are all very proud of the level of service we offer. It%26#39;s not fair for us to do these things for you-- we%26#39;re sure your innkeepers would want to help you with this! :)
Could you please tell us why you are not asking your innkeepers to help you?
You are paying them for this service! :)
Or is there something else??
Sorry for prying, but we%26#39;re in a really tough spot here. We hesitate to keeping helping you with all these questions. because each time we do, we risk ticking off our fellow colleagues, and friends.
Hoping this makes sense! :)

Hey, I%26#39;ll help you, no prob. Last year we drove from Calistoga to Sacramento.via the backroads....over 128, etc. It was incredibly beautiful, but probably not a good idea for you! You%26#39;ll want to head south and take I-80 East and it%26#39;s about an hour%26#39;s drive. You won%26#39;t be hitting the horrid traffic since you%26#39;ll be going the opposite direction. Still, I%26#39;d give myself 3 full hours. The rental cars at SAC are in front of the airport, and the counter is on the right side as you face the airport. They have one of the most efficient return systems I%26#39;ve ever seen. We%26#39;ve flown via Oakland and SFO and we will ALWAYS choose Sacramento whenever possible. The airport is on the northwest side of the city; we%26#39;ve never had any problems with traffic there. Have a great trip!!!
Thanks so much Linda--Just what I needed.
Dear Napa Old World Inn--I am staying in two different lodgings in Napa. One of them especially is very helpful. Have been on the phone with them and they said send me some of my interests and they would help with intineraries, reservations, etc.
However, guess I am just ignorant and/or just new at this. Only have been in one true bed/breakfast in my life. It was on a winery in Texas. Therefore, everything we did for the night two days was consolidated in one place and we just drove from home. We asked some driving directions to make a stop on the way home as we would do with any ';concierge';. That is who we are used to dealing with as we usually stay in big hotels/resorts. And, usually I do all the research, reservations, travel directions, etc. on my own. I just get hotel help once I arrive on stuff I didn%26#39;t think of or didn%26#39;t need to plan in advance.
I know you always say contact your innkeepers, but didn%26#39;t think they can even answer airport, driving questions, etc.
Sorry, and btw I am not at all putting you in a bad spot with your colleagues, please see the message I am now sending you.
