Will be in LAX twice in the next month: one time before going to Orange County for a work meeting (will have a work mate in tow) the next time with my husband for a fun weekend getaway.
We want upscale, fun, with some pool/beach/bar action. Which is the better choice?
Thanks~
Santa Monica Hotel: Loews, Shutters or Casa
We would be interested in a reply on this as well. We are due in LAX 6-14th Sept as part of a fly-drive tour and can%26#39;t decide between Loews %26amp; Shutters for the week!
Santa Monica Hotel: Loews, Shutters or Casa
if you want to do the beach thing in santa monica, guys... shutters hands down. second choice is casa del mar. loews shouldn%26#39;t even be discussed. and don%26#39;t go near the viceroy santa monica, no matter what kind of deals they try to throw at you. enjoy! LL72
Shutters is my favorite and most romantic, Casa is equally great (with a big bar scene), Loews is for businesspeople and families.
Thanks for your help on this you guys, we%26#39;re going to check out Casa for deals first because we%26#39;re into decent bars. Sorry to hijack the post BritinTexas!
No matter which hotel you stay in, Nige, great bar scenes are just a block or two away, real walking distance - Viceroy, Casa - just a few steps from each other.
Yogachik / LL72 - Many thanks for your help so far. We%26#39;ve been looking at the budget, we are arriving in US and then staying in Vegas for 3 nights, then flying up to Frisco for 2 nights, then driving back down to LA with an overnight stop, budget is now running short for Shutters! We are in LA area for 6 nights altogether, and now thinking of staying at Shutters Santa Monica for 2/3 nights in a top room for the experience, with 3/4 nights somewhere else either before or after shutters. Any suggestions? We thought possibly the Fairmont Santa Monica, or should we try another area of LA completely? Hope we are not giving you too much grief - if you ever want to come to North Yorkshire in the UK we%26#39;ll look after you of course!
2 or 3 nights at Shutters (or Fairmont, which I love also) is great, and 3 nights in Hollywood or West Hollywood (better) on Sunset Blvd is great. We always recommend splitting the vacation 1/2 at the beach, 1/2 in town.
Look into hotels like Standard, Sunset Tower, Mondrian, Grafton, Best Western Sunset Plaza.
