Recommendations for Hollywood 1/2 day tour?

I%26#39;m staying in Anaheim Hilton for 4 nites 5 days and am thinking of joining a 1/2 day hollywood tour to save the hazzel of finding transportation. Originally I was hoping to visit Hollywood on the same day as I visit Universal Studio. But I just found out that my schedule is pretty much restricted by their so-called ';free'; shuttle bus: if I take the early shuttle bus to Universal Studio (pick up @ 9:30a) I am bounded to take the early departure bus (return @ 6:30p). So there is pretty much no way I can go to hollywood on the same day. (I%26#39;ve asked if I can get the tix refunded they say no) So now I%26#39;m considering joining a 1/2 day hollywood tour in another day.

Any recommendation as to which company%26#39;s tour is better? I%26#39;ve surfed on the web and I found two tours.

Which one is better? or anymore suggestions of any tours? I can only do 1/2 tour %26#39;cause I also wanna spend more time in DL too. Please Help! This is so frustrating!

Recommendations for Hollywood 1/2 day tour?

I%26#39;m not sure why you feel that you can%26#39;t see Universal and Hollywood on the same day using the free shuttle. The 9:30 am shuttle will drop you at the Park by 10:30. Most people spend about 4 hours there -- which means that you%26#39;ll be finished by 2:30. It%26#39;s a 10-minute taxi ride from Universal to the center of Hollywood (and back, of course) which will give you at least 3 hours to spend in Hollywood. Downtown Hollywood is very compact so you can easily look at the Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theater and visit the Hollywood %26amp; Highland Mall within that time since all of these attractions are on the same block of Hollywood Bl -- just west of Highland Av.

Or, you could stay LATE in Hollywood and make other provsions for returning to your hotel in Anaheim. For example, you could:

1. Take a starline tour (their office is in the same block of Hollywood Bl -- in the courtyard of the Chinese Theater.

2. Take a WALKING TOUR of Hollywood with REDLINE TOURS (redlinetours.com)

3. Have dinner in Hollywood

4. See a movie at the Chinese Theater,

etc, etc

When you%26#39;re ready to go back to Anaheim, follow these steps:

a. From the same block of Hollywood Bl, that is west of Highland Av, enter the metro rail station and take the train downtown to the last stop, Union Station. The ride will take 17 minutes. The fare is $1.25

b. Take the next train to Anaheim (there are two train companies: Metrolink (metrolinktrains.com, look for trains under the ORANGE COUNTY LINE) or Amtrak (amtrak.com -- select a train by putting in LAX as your departing station (LAX is the code for UNION STATION, not the airport of the same name). Then enter the station code: ANA (for Anaheim)).

These 2 train companies run on the same tracks and use the same stations. Trains run hourly or so. Transfer time to Anaheim is about 37 minutes. The ticket is around $12

c. When you arrive at the station, take a taxi to your hotel. (10 minutes -- $10).

You%26#39;ve posted a lot here about your desire to see Hollywood %26amp; Universal. I want to assure you that you can easily see these 2 areas on the same day WITH NO PROBLEM. Thousands of people do it every week. So don%26#39;t worry.

BTW, if you plan to return on your own via the train, be sure to let Grayline/CoachUSA -- the coach tour company that is taking you to Universal -- that you will not be returning with them in the evening.

Thank you so much for your patience hiphopjump (am i speling it right?) for my annoying go-to-hollywood questions. I haven%26#39;t been to LA before so I%26#39;m trying to play safe (I guess....paranoid) and avoid the pressure of time. Sometimes it%26#39;s hard to imagine things will be in place when you haven%26#39;t seen them in real.
