--- HOPING THE TRIPADVISOR STAFF SUPPORT THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH WE ARE ENTITLED TO.. --
Hello everyone!
I just had a chat with a friend who arrived last Sunday from SF after a 3-week tour around the area and assured me that the nightlife in SF is very quiet with most places closing at around 2 a.m at the latest.
SF is home to psychedelic, rock n roll and some of the best 70s music and I bet there must be places to enjoy the music and dance the night away.
Any suggestions??
Gracias a todos!!

what's SF nightlife like?
Most places close at 2am because it%26#39;s against the law to serve alcohol after 2am. Some places are open later, but obviously there is no alcohol served. I can%26#39;t tell you which ones. Do a Google search for ';after hours'; dance clubs. The term ';after hours'; refers to places that are open after 2am.
It%26#39;s a cultural thing as well, 2am is pretty late by US standards. but we eat dinner 6-8pm, where as europeans and latin americans each much later.
what's SF nightlife like?
Yes Simbot, that%26#39;s right, it might as well be a cultural thing but funnily enough all US Americans students and to a large degree tourists over here too end up hanging out till very late while they%26#39;re here in Europe, especially in Spain, so makes me wonder why don%26#39;t they follow suit in their own countries and do the same if they enjoy partying until late so much..
I had that conversation with a friend the other day and didn%26#39;t find an explanation really, but after all there many more things other than partying..
and yes we do have after hours over here too, it%26#39;s a universal concept mate!!
cheers!

Yeah thanks. I wasn%26#39;t sure about the after hours concept in europe, since clubs ther are usually open all night when does after hours start? 6am?
I Don%26#39;t know why there aren%26#39;t more after hours clubs in SF, supply and demand I guess. Maybe you should open one, tap into the unmet demand of the party all night crowd.
Actually there%26#39;s probably quite afew of them, I%26#39;m not into that, so I don%26#39;t know.
haha good idea! believe it or not there are places opening till noon, but most places close at 3.30 or 6.00 am which are the ones where I usually go. No alcohol restrictions whatsoever, they keep serving alcohol while open, and you should come and order a rhum and coke in any bar, night club, restaurant over here to see what I mean..
anyway, I really want to find out where I can go on a Friday %26amp; Satuday night so please someone tell me where the action is in SF!!
There must be somewhere out there where people in their (late) 20s into r n roll music go..
cheers!!
Hey Simbot, see what I found: (hope the tripadvisor webmaster doesnt mind me cutting and pasting from another website..)

In Short
With dark-wood paneling, bare brick walls and blown-glass light fixtures, this club feels like a Prohibition-era pool hall. Some nights bring an upscale R%26amp;B crowd, others draw a punk crowd. The club is also known as a hub for %26#39;60s and mod culture. Regardless of a night%26#39;s entertainment, there are two rooms to choose from: The front room that features the main dance floor, and the back room with a pool table and cozy booths.
That%26#39;s the kind of stuff I was after, if you see what I mean now..
Otherwise, let%26#39;s open our own place sometime hahaha
Be good
