City Pass

I%26#39;ve been hearing idle chit chat about purchasing the SF City Pass, what are the benefits of it etc?

City Pass

Hi, for us the City Pass will be to take advantage of unlimited cable car and historic railcar rides as well as allow us a visit to museums, etc. Fare for the cable cars is about 5.00/one way, so over the three days we are there, this alone will make it worth our while. When I was in NYC a few years back, the City pass was super handy to get into all the museums I wanted to visit as well. I used a similar card while in London, England and it helped me avoid all those long line ups for tickets. Also, it allows for better budgeting of funds. Hope that helps.

Happy travels.

City Pass

From the city pass website:

San Francisco CityPass is a visitor bonanza

Sunny or foggy, atop its hills or on the waterfront, Coit Tower or Chinatown, keep your camera ready because this beauty doesn鈥檛 have a bad side.

CityPass ticket booklets blaze a path to San Francisco鈥檚 landmarks 鈥?on its romantic cable cars -- in a tidy collection of pocket-size tickets. Visit them in any order you please and enjoy the neighborhoods, parks, piers and cultural buffet you鈥檒l encounter along the way.

San Francisco CityPass includes six attraction admissions and a seven-day MUNI %26amp; Cable Car Passport. In Golden Gate Park, see the new de Young Museum, then visit the Legion of Honor for free on the same day; Exploratorium in the Presidio near the Golden Gate Bridge; the California Academy of Sciences %26amp; Steinhart Aquarium or Asian Art Museum (ticket 3 gives you a choice); SF Museum of Modern Art in the cultural district; Blue %26amp; Gold Fleet Bay Cruise Adventure from Pier 41; and the Aquarium of the Bay on Pier 39, with its wealth of restaurants, shops and fun.

Bonus tickets make the value even better. Taste San Francisco chocolate and sourdough bread, shop at Bloomingdale鈥檚, tour the baseball stadium, and visit the sea lions at Pier 39.

So, a 7 day MUNI pass costs $24, if bought separately. The City pass is $54. So, that means that you get the other attractions for $30. A good deal IF you take advantage of enough of the options. Often it is a better deal if you buy the MUNI passport and pay for those museums, etc. that you really want to see. Figure out what you will realistically use, find the cost of admission to those attractions, then do the math. As I recall, your visit is going to be a short one. You are probably better of just getting the 1 or 3 day MUNI passport and paying separately for admissions..

thanks i%26#39;ll work it out

Sniper, we used the CityPass on our trip and it was great. We took advantage of all the features but one (ran out of time.) It would just depend on if the tickets are to things you%26#39;d like to see. We enjoyed the Aquarium by the Bay and the Blue and Gold bay cruise.

I agree - Citypass is a great bargain if you%26#39;re at all inclined to go to the museum (the MUNI portion alone is worth about half the price).

The thing I like most about it (and I was a resident for about 7 years) is the fact that you%26#39;re museum portion is already paid for - have an hour or two to kill and you%26#39;re near one of museums, you feel great just going in and wander around to what every exhibitions tickle your fancy. (Which I would never want to pay $15 - $20 to do).

That%26#39;s my $.02,
