Winemaker Dinners-Sept 1

First off, I have not done any of these. I will say that Landmark is first class operation and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. It holds a special place in my heart since I was married there11 years ago.

The Ravenswood dinner sounds like fun. Their wine has always been one of my favorites and the menu looks to be a good fit. The setting will be nice, up on the hill in the trees. I would love a chance to chat with Joel. I%26#39;ve been a fan since the mid 80s.

Prices do look a high, but I%26#39;m sure the wine will be flowing and you will not leave hungry.

If you or anyone goes to one of these, we%26#39;d all love a report afterward.

Winemaker Dinners-Sept 1

Yes--if you can afford it, go to at least one winemakers%26#39; dinner as it%26#39;s an incomparable experience filled with exuberance, comraderie, fascinating stories and background info.--and a chance to drink (lots) of premium wines. The food at the 2 dinners I went to (Flowers and Paul Mathew) was very good, but allowed the wines to be the stars and complimented them just as one would want. If you really enjoy the wines from one the places you mentioned, then I%26#39;d say most definitely go and experience their winermaker%26#39;s dinner--it%26#39;s an event, not just a dinner, and you can cleverly rationalize the cost that way. Lots of us are willing to spend hundreds on shows, concerts, sports, etc.--and the winermakers%26#39; dinners are at least as enjoyable (and much more special) than any of those!

Sorry about all those extra ';r%26#39;s';--must have ';winers'; and ';diners'; on the brain!!

Thanks for all the advice. I chose the St. Francis dinner. The landmark one was sold out.

we%26#39;re going to be in the area the same night. where did you find this information? we%26#39;re staying in healdsburg and having dinner at dry creek on friday night but this sounds fun. any info on where to read about this would be appreciated.

Reddog,

St. Francis is beautiful property and they make a lot of different wines. That should give the chef and wine maker a lot of options for food pairings.

Let us know how it was when you get back!

Here is where you can find info about this.
