Hollywood area to Santee Alley morning driving

Would love to know the best route to take in the early am for this driving trip to Santee Alley. I know it%26#39;s not that far, but I have heard that traffic can be awful. Freeway or Wilshire Blvd. or perhaps another route...? Anyone have suggestions on parking as well? Thanks

The stores don%26#39;t open until 10am so if you start your drive at 9:30, you should get there in time for the opening. If you plan to drive between 6 and 9, you%26#39;ll hit traffic no matter which way you go. After 9 (or so) take the Hollywood Freeway into downtown and go eastbound (to the left) on Olmpic to Santee.

Otherwise, I%26#39;d take the redline metro rail train:

From Hollywood %26amp; Highland take the red line train to the 7th Street/Metro Center station. Get off the train, come up to 7th Street and pick up the ';E'; DASH bus eastbound (to the right as you come out of the station). Get off at Olympic BL. Santee is one block east. The ride is only 25 cents and takes less than 4 minutes.

Small correction to the above directions for taking the DASH bus. Since there is more than one exit from the metro rail station, going east on 7th Street could be a left turn or a right turn from the station%26#39;s exit! Just ask the driver to make sure you%26#39;re going in the right direction.

I second to rather take the subway/dash to santee alley. It%26#39;s faster than driving (the metro comes every 12 minutes, the dash every 5 or 6 minutes) and you do not have to deal with parking. Get a daypass for $5, they are also accepted on the dash in downtown and have a stressfree day shopping on Santee Alley

Remember, you can bargain over there. So never pay full price!

As far as the traffic, it depends on what day of the week you%26#39;re going, and then at what time. Of course, if it%26#39;s during the week, traffic on the freeway is going to be horrible in the morning, and even sometimes during the middle of the day. Very unpredictable. If you go on the weekend, there should be very little traffic in the morning, but there can be in the afternoon.

I agree with Jcena. It depends when you go!

Driving on a Wednesday morning and then heading north to Monterey afterwards. Probably around 9:00 am. Thanks!
