casa madrona- Sauslito,CA

If buying or bidding on a travel website such as Travel Zoo, etc - which we did.......Beware of bargain prices. We got what we paid for- a room with a view, alright , but with 85 steps to climb to get to it!!After the bid, we called the hotel to discuss room and bedding ( queen- twin ..? etc ) and never once were we seniors told about any steps at all. Of course when we realized what was ahead of us- they had no other rooms available. For one of us it was a miserable situation and we could only make the climb at the end of each day- 1 time per day and that was way, way too many times.

That%26#39;s really bad that your stay was so significantly impacted by your room%26#39;s location. But for future reference, if the lodging is a historic hotel as Casa Madrona%26#39;s is, be sure to ask specifically about handicapped access, if the Website doesn%26#39;t make reference to it. Not sure if Casa Madrona%26#39;s does or not. It is fairly common for vintage/historic lodging to have flights of steep stairs to traverse.

You certainly did the right thing by calling the hotel and checking on the room and bedding. But I would suggest to anyone to inquire also about elevators and mention any mobility issues.
