LAX to Venice Beach, Venice Beach to Melrose / Rodeo Drive

I am flying into LAX around midnight Thusday evening and going to Venice Beach. Any idea on the cost of a cab ride from LAX to Venice Beach...or and easier/cheaper way to get there?

Friday I%26#39;d like to go from Venice Beach to the shops on Melrose and Rodeo Drive - can I cab it from Venice Beach?

Well it%26#39;s been a while since I%26#39;ve been there but at that time of night traffic will be minimal and it%26#39;s only about a 10-15 minute drive from LAX to Venice. As for cabbing it to Shops on Melrose etc. in midday traffic you could be looking at 30-40 mins. Although you could take buses the public transport is not great and I personally wouldn%26#39;t recommend it. LA is very spread out and you would need to know exactly where you want to go. Would a car rental be an option? This would be much better for you, especially if you hire a gps unit.

Good Luck!

Cab from LAX to Venice is around $25 and takes 15-20 minutes. You can also take the bus, but I wouldn%26#39;t recommend it at midnight.

A cab from Venice to either Melrose Ave or Rodeo would be long and expensive. They%26#39;re both on the other side of the city. If you can%26#39;t rent a car, you should check out www.mta.net for bus routes. It%26#39;ll take 2 buses and around 1 hour to get to either one depending on when you go. Try to avoid rush hour, 7-10am and 4-7pm. You can take a bus from Rodeo to Melrose. Taking a bus down Santa Monica Blvd and walking down to Melrose Ave is probably easiest so you don%26#39;t have to change buses. Should take about 15 minutes.

A car would be a practical option.

It%26#39;s helpful to know where you are staying in Venice which is a fairly large area. If it%26#39;s close to Santa Monica, it might pay to go to Santa Monica to catch a bus. Tell use more!
