I will be visiting Santa Monica and LA in about two weeks and I have arranged a semi-tour of the LA Coliseum. I am a huge USC fan and when I heard I would be able to take a picture near the stadium turf I was excited.
I was just wondering how is traffic around 1:00 - 3:00 pm. The lady said I could come by anytime after her lunch break. It will be a Tuesday that we will be driving around looking at sights, so yes it will be a workday. I don%26#39;t know if which area we will be coming from, but if we were to come straight from our hotel which is on the beach about two blocks from the SM Pier, how should it be? The last thing I want to do is miss seeing the Coliseum up close because of traffic. Any help would be well appreciated. Thank you.
Santa Monica to LA Coliseum
I would try to get there at 1 pm. It should take 30 minutes or less. By getting there early, you can leave early. FYI, rush hour starts at 2:30 or 3:00 and the Santa Monica Freeway (Interstate 10) gets the worst of it. (It%26#39;s the most heavily traveled freeway in California).
Since most of the trip between USC and SM is via the 10, be prepared for a longer ride home if you leave after 2:15 or so. If you get stuck in traffic, count on it taking 45 minutes to an hour to get back. Driving surface streets won%26#39;t help any.
Have fun!
