Location location? Help bahia, la jolla, or crowne plaza

My husband and I are travelling through Southern California (from England) for 3 weeks and plan to spend our last 4 nights in San Diego. We would like to stay in a hotel fairly close to restaurants etc, with nice walks and beaches fairly close by. We would also like to spend some time in the Gaslight district/old town in the evenings. Main prioirities are - pool, balcony/patio, NOT interested in ';kiddie'; attractions, but we love live music when we can find it.

Looked at Bahia, but have doubts, also La Jolla and the newly refurbished Crowne Plaza (purely becaue it appears to have balconies etc, but not near beach I know).

We are planning our stay in September, 24th to 28th. Budget around $150 - $200 per night . Any thoughts?

Cheers

Jude

TheCrowne Plaza ,although beloved by our REdlands Redhead,i s not in a scenic area that would give you the %26#39;%26#39;feel'; of SanDiego and its beauty. Have you looked at Humphresy or th eother Shleter Island hotels like the Bayclub(upper floor)or the Island palms. the neighborhood gives beautiful views out on the marinas inSanDeigo Bay AND Humphreys is a live muscie concert venue. Take a look at the concert schedule .Perhaps someone will b eplaying that youwould enjoy.

stayed at the bahia last august and enjoyed it.stayed in a studio room third floor in building at the back of the complex. balcony with nice view of mission bay, the bahia belle sternwheeler boat and seaworld fireworks. not a 5 star resort but my room was clean and comfortable. easy drive to pacific beach and la jolla.hotel was supposedly remodeled in february. good luck and have a great time, i sure did!

Stayed at Bahia in August 05 for one week - was upgraded to a suite which included a kitchen and patio with views of the fireworks at sea world. Lovely pool. Staff very helpful - correct advise, unlike some hotels!

Short walk to laid back promenade area with a few restaurants. Taxi to gaslight district circa $20 (if memory serves me rightly).

One of the most relaxing holidays I%26#39;ve ever had.
