Hotel suggestions for ocean beach

I am looking for hotel suggestions for Ocean Beach for 7 nights August 3rd. My wife and I are helping our daughter move to San Diego and need a hotel in area of Sunset Cliffs Blvd and Nimitz Blvd. Prefer a 3 star hotel with outdoor pool and parking. Any suggestions?

Here is th eproblem. there are very few hotels/motels in that area. The ones that are there do not fully meet your criteria. I have no idea of your price range.TheOceanBeachHotel has no pool. It is a basic 3*** place more like a motel, facing the OceanBeach Pier. the Inna tSunset Cliffs is a B7Bstyle and I am not sure if it has a pool.It also has ocean views.

There are a bunch of 1and2** motels along Nimitz and Rosecrans. TheHolliday InnExpress on Jupiter meets your criteria but it is a little further away and is just under $200 pernight unless you have AAA. I would also call it a basic 3** *not fancy.

On Shelter Island facing SanDiego Bay are some 3***s that are nicer places to stay .I am not sure of availbablility as it is late to book for August. You can try the Island Palms or th eBayclub.

Hotels on shelter Island are full. I need to expand my options. We are willing to stay at a hotel within a, safe, general area of San Diego. I saw hotels in the area of hotel circle that are available. I understand the short notice. My price range is around $200 a night. Gas Lamp area is too hetic. We stayed at Humphreys a few weeks ago but the hotels are booked. We will have a rental car and driving in San Diego was fairly easy. We are open to any ideas.

Your suggestions for Humphrey%26#39;s hotel was excellent and we had a great time there. Our daughter is moving to San Diego to attend law school and we are helping her to relocate. I appreciate your assistance.

Joe,I am really sorry but even Hotwire has nothing good available for those dates except for a 4***** in the gaslamp at $202(before tax and prkg.) I think you will just have to take what you can get anywhere! The only other idea would be to look at condo rentals that might offer a pool. You can try looking at www.vrbo.com vacation rental by owner.

Good luck. I fyou rdaughter is going to attend USD then it is a great school!!

After a thorough search, I am down to a few choices. Double tree hotel on hazard center drive, Hilton Misson bay garden room, Holiday inn express either circle south or sea world. I noticed the double tree was ranked #9. The choices are very close to expressways and centrally located. You are correct, many hotels are full. Prices are close to each other, within $40,00 per day. At this point, I am lucky to find a decent hotel close to the city. Planning a trip can very time consuming but essential. Any advice is appreciated.

TheDouble tree is a convenient location fo rMissionValley as it is next to Hazard Center and near a trolley stop. Thesea re things which you probably dont care much about.

The Hilton MissionBay is in a lovely setting(yes even though it is off the freeway) inside MissionBayPark with miles of trails for walking, biking etc. The drawback there,is that you will have to drive to restuarants other than the one at the hotel BUT we really like the hotel restaurant. We stayed there a few weeks ago for an intown get away and really liked it.

So I%26#39;d say the choice is between the Doubletree and the MissionBay Hilton and if you want somewhere pretty then MissionBay is the choice.

Sorry ,I forgot to add that the hotels charge for parking . Some people have said they parked at Hazard Center (but I dont know if they parked overnight ) to avoid fees. The HOliday Inn Express doesNOT charge for parking so that might change your mind on price.
