Flat Taxi Rate

I read somewhere that the flat taxi rate from Orange Co. airport to the Disneyland Resort area is $36.00. Do you ask the taxi driver if he has a flat rate? Not sure how to negotiate this. Thanks for your help

Flat Taxi Rate

When boarding a taxi at either John Wayne or Long Beach Airports, tell the driver you want the flat rate to the Disneyland Resort area, and make sure he agrees, if not, step out of the cab and go talk to the dispatcher. The driver will get into some serious trouble, so you shouldn%26#39;t have a problem, the taxi drivers do not want to lose their special airport tags.

We were going to take a taxi ourselves, then we heard about SuperShuttle. We ended up going with them. $15 per person, from airport to the hotel. You can check them out at www.supershuttle.com

Why a taxi is better than Super Shuttle from either John Wayne or Long Beach....

The price is about the same for 2 folks, and cheaper if there are three or more.

Jump right in, and no need to wait with a Taxi. Shuttles will wait to try and full up the van, including driving around the airport to different exits looking for more folks, which can take up to 30 extra minutes.

With a taxi, you know who you will be seating by (our frined and family), with a shuttle, you can be crammed onto a bench seat with strangers...

A taxi will go straight to your hotel, a shuttle might make multiple stops along the way as they drop people off at their homes and hotels, adding more time to your trip from the airport and the hotel.

Now from LAX, I prefer the DIsneyland Express Airport Bus, great seats, cheap and good service. (The taxi is expensive).

So, do you pre-book anything? I have 7 in my party.. so, even with two cabs, it%26#39;s cheaper. Do you suggest we just go to the taxi dispatch when we get there? I suppose we could get a taxi/van or something.

I disagree about the taxi. It was $40 flat rate (4 people) last Oct, whereas we reserved a dedicated SuperShuttle for a flat rate of $47. This is good for up to 7 members in a party. While the initial cost of the shuttle was more *from* the airport, the flat rate *back* in the taxi was quite a bit higher, so cost-wise it was actually a little less to take the van. The reserved van was waiting for us both at the airport and at the hotel, and since we had an exclusive shuttle, there was no waiting for more passengers and no other drop-offs or pick-ups. With a party of 7, I%26#39;d go with SuperShuttle because the cost of a taxi is going to be higher than the above mentioned taxi costs. I am pretty sure that taxis that can hold 7 passengers will charge more than $36-40. That fare, as I mentioned, is only from the airport to the hotel, with the return cost higher. You can reserve the super shuttle ahead of time if you want (and pre-pay, including tip, if you wish). I%26#39;m not sure about reserving a taxi ahead of time, but there seem to be plenty of them around the airport. It would be more a matter of getting one for the return that might require a reservation.

I%26#39;m not sure I made it clear in my post above, but you can get what is called an exclusive van for your party from SuperShuttle. The rate between OC airport and Disneyland resort is a flat rate of $47 each way for up to 7 people. They have a bigger van for parties up to 9 (which costs more). You just walk out to the shuttle area and tell them you have a van reserved. They%26#39;ll take you to your hotel, no stops and no waiting for other passengers, though we did have to wait about 10 minutes for our van. It was right on time (slightly early) to pick us up from the hotel for our return trip.

We did have a taxi driver offer to drive us for less while we were walking toward the van, but he knew we had reservations for the shuttle so I%26#39;m not sure how sincere his price offer was.

Cachica, thanks for your input. Sounds like the way to go. I%26#39;m more comfortable with that many relying on me, if we have a reservation with a reliable company. That sounds great! Thanks!
