del dotto tour

i am very interested in doing the Del Dotto Winery Cave Tour. Ive heard the 3:30pm tour is the best. However I was a bit confused about some details on their website, wondering if anyone here can clarify please! It mentioned something about candlelighting only on friday, sat, sunday...is this true? We will be visiting on a Thursday. Also it mentioned that after 4pm they play Rock music versus the classical earlier in the day, however i didnt see any tours offered after 4pm? Anyone know the answers please?

We light the caves with candles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday because our winemaker and cellar workers have to work with the wine all week and it is hard to work around lit candles without getting burned at some point. If you do the 3:00 or 3:30 tour you will hear the Rock music at the end of your tour in the main room while you are doing the cheese %26amp; chocolate pairing with the last couple of wines and Port. If you are coming in during the week and you really want the lit candles, call and ask for me, Georgia. I will look at our schedule and if the cellar workers are doing other things and not working in the cave on that day, I will light them for you.

We were there last Thursday at the 3:00 tour. Candles were lit then. Our guide told us they had people from the All Star game there the day before and had the candles lit for them and decided to burn them again the next night too.

We also had the disco ball and rock music play at the end of the tour.

The tour lastsat least 1 1/2 hours. The cost is $40 per person. You will taste lots of wine out of barrels. I%26#39;m not sure how many you actually taste, at least 10. (All of the wine is red wine)

The tour is a riot!

thanks for the updates! We tried to get the 3:30 tour, however on the date we needed it was already booked with a large party! So we are now on the 1:30 tour. We are looking forward to it! We leave in the morning for our trip to Napa...can%26#39;t wait!

Have a great time!

Be sure to get a good map and have a local to show you how to get around the traffic! :)

Thank you for posting this- I just booked our tour for 330pm on the Friday we%26#39;ll be there (day after Thanksgiving). This forum is invaluable to my travel planning! Thank you!

GREAT tour, esp. if you can tour with the GM, Matt. All of the tour guides are great - Matt is just esp. knowledgeable and usually takes longer tours (which means more wine!). You will drink a LOT of wine. It is all red and all good. We had the candles and the opera and it was awesome...we were there mid-week, but during the All Star week, so we got the benefit of the candles. You will love it. Have fun!

we had a great time at this tour...our guide was Frank, and he was awesome. We tasted alot of wine! the candles we on too! We even got to taste alot of the reserve wines, which were usually for v.i.p.s only. great tour overall, had a blast!
