Best Beach in Los Angeles

Hello,

I was wondering what is the best beach in Los Angeles to get a tan and relax? I heard Venice Beach is pretty nice, but is it more about walking around shops and entertainment instead than laying on the beach and relaxing?

What are you interested in doing at the beach?

I would actually recommend going a little south of Los Angeles County, to Huntington beach in Orange County. You can both lay and the beach and relax and walk around shops and enjoy some entertainment. It is also a beautiful and clean beach.

Correcton:

';both lay and the beach'; should read ';both lay on the beach';

One of the best beaches in LA is Manhattan Beach, located just south of LAX. It rates an A+. Large stretch of clean sand with restrooms, showers and life guards on duty. Can get food at the end of the pier or hamburgers/pizza, etc. at base of pier on MB Blvd. Lots of room to spread out and relax.

What do you think about the ';Shade'; hotel? It has good reviews, but would you recommend it?

How is the area where it is located - safe?

Not knowing you or your tastes, I couldn%26#39;t recommend the hotel blindly. If you like sleek, modern and new, you have it. It is located in the very safe area of LA, in the heart of the downtown MB beach area. Has a great lobby and bar, but is not really a family hotel. Plenty of restaurants near, and you can walk to everything. Not all rooms have ocean view, some face the street or courtyard.

I agree with Manhattan Beach. It%26#39;s a nice, cleaner beach in a safer area, so you can thoroughly relax. There are little shops and restaurants you can wander around, if you are so inclined, and if you%26#39;re driving in from a different part of LA, there is street parking and a parking structure a couple of blocks from the beach.

As for Shade Hotel, since I am local, I%26#39;ve never stayed in the hotel. I have gone for drinks, as the lobby becomes becomes a busy hotel bar/lounge, so if you are an early sleeper, I wouldn%26#39;t recommend. It is within walking distance to the beach, but from what I%26#39;ve seen of their online prices, very pricey.
