Yosemite to grand canyon

Hi

I%26#39;m trying to plan my route for next years holiday and after staying for a few nights in San Francisco have booked a two night stay in Yosemite and hope to drive over to the north of the grand canyon. What is the best route for sight seeing and where would you recommend we stop over to break the journey

Yosemite to grand canyon

It depends on what time of the year that you are traveling. If it%26#39;s during the summer and the Tioga Pass in Yosemite is open then that is the most scenic route. With this route, you would then drive through Death Valley, then to Las Vegas;then on to the GC.

The North Rim of the GC is nice, but the South Rim offers better views.

If you have the time, then many people incorporate this trip with a visit to Zion and Bryce Nayional Parks which can be routed from Las Vegas, then connecting to the North Side of the GC.(min 2days)

If you drive directly to the South Rim of the GC from Vegas then that will take you 4.5hrs.

Have a look at www.mapquest.com, then put in the various destinations to get a better idea of distance and travel times. This will help you will the number of days you have for your holiday.

Enjoy!!

Thanks for that

We are going in July next year. Is there somewhere we could break the journey and stay overnight. Thanks

It depends on how much time you want to sightsee in between Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. Some people like to stop in Death Valley National Park. If you have never been to Las Vegas then you might want to stop there.
