hiking or biking in Palm Desert

we are headed to Club Intrawest this spring and would like to do some outdoor activities, not golf any ideas? Traveling with two teenage boys who like to hike and ride bikes, swim etc...How%26#39;s the food in the area?

Fotunately there are LOTS of great outdoor activities! For hiking check out a few websites: hiking-in-ps.com palmsprings.com/points/canyon/ and tahquitzcanyon.com

Personally, Indian canyons is great for hiking because there are 15 miles of hiking, much alongside spring fed creeks. You do guided or by youself. Tahquitz canyon is a fairly short and doable hike that is guide led by knowledgeable rangers and you learn a lot when someone takes you who knows about the area! We did this one time and really enjoyed it. Your boys would undoubtedly love a jeep tour of the local area. There are also desert hummer tours. If money is not an issue these are really cool. The tram to the top of Mt. San Jacinto is pretty awesome and worth the trouble and time. There%26#39;s also hiking once you get to the top. I don%26#39;t know much about biking but I%26#39;m sure you can google that and find info.

Where is Club Intrawest located? I can help with dining, maybe, if you tell me the location of your resort.

FYI

Tahquitz Canyon charges $12 per person to hike and Indian Canyons charges $8 per person. They are good hiking spots but on private land so charge for entry.

I believe Club Intrawest is across the street from the Desert Springs Marriott, on the Desert Willow Golf Course.

There are some great restaurants at the Marriott, which you could walk to (long walk, tho!) Since you%26#39;re not staying there you wouldn%26#39;t be able to use the facilities. Desert Adventures Jeep Tours would be great fun for the teenagers. Since the weather should be beautiful in the Spring, I think that would be great for you all.

Also on El Paseo, in Palm Desert, there are some great restaurants with outdoor dining. Pacifica for fresh fish, Sullivans for steaks, Tommy Bahamas. These are all in the Gardens on El Paseo. Armandos Mexican Restaurant is also on El Paseo. The Cliffhouse in Indian Wells, has a great bar menu and I believe you can have your boys there as long as they don%26#39;t sit at the bar. They run great nightly specials.

Also at The River in Rancho Mirage, is the Yardhouse. Great food, great music and an unbelievable amount of beer on tap! PF Changs, the Cheesecake Factory are both there as well.

And if you%26#39;re in town over a Thursday, I%26#39;d take the whole family and head to Palm Springs for VillageFest. It%26#39;s each Thursday evening from 6p - 10p, in season and I%26#39;d eat on the street! Loads of selections for food and fun to shop and also listen to the bands and entertainment.

You shouldn%26#39;t miss the Palm Springs Aerial Tram, with hiking at the top of Mount San Jacinto State Park.

thank you for all the great ideas

I ditto Collz recommendation for the Desert Springs Marriott for restaurants. Our favorite is the Sea Grille if you%26#39;d like an upscale seafood dinner. We love to have cocktails in their amazing lobby then take the boat to our dinner reservation. Quite a wonderful evening! Even your teenage boys would enjoy this upscale outing.

Actually, the Desert Willow clubhouse has a very nice restaurant with patio. The food is pretty good, at least it was for brunch.
