Santee Alley Tips

HI folks,

Visiting soon, looking for advice on where to go in Santee Alley. I will be looking for mens suits, knockoff shades, tshirts and my wife will be looking for shoes, clothes andkids clothes.

Kind of vague I apologize. Any suggestions on price or haggling are welcome.

I suggest doing a search for any of HitchKennedy%26#39;s posts, he often gives advice on Santee, where to park, where to start, etc. Or, just search in the Search line ';Santee Alley';

Mens suits are on Los Angeles Street just North of Olympic Blvd., not on Santee Alley proper. I%26#39;m not very good at haggling, but they drop the price at the first mention. I think that they want everyone to feel like they%26#39;re getting a good deal. But that first drop just brings you to the ';normal'; price that everyone gets. It%26#39;ll take a little more bargaining and 2 or 3 more price drops before you%26#39;re getting a good deal. You can comparison shop to see when you%26#39;re there. Like I said, I%26#39;m not good at haggling so I normally stop at the second price drop when they pretend to get approval from the owner. :)

Most of the rest of the Alley and District are the womens and kids section which is substantially larger than the mens section. All of the cheaper stuff like t-shirts, sunglasses, knockoffs, etc. are cheaper just off the alley than they are Santee Alley itself. Most of the kids stuff is at the south end of the alley on the east side.

If you are looking for Mens Suits, i would go to Hollywood Suit Outlet on Hollywood Blvd. $299 gets you 3 suits, shirts, slacks e.t.c. Good designer stuff you probably will not find around Santee Alley

Yeah, Santee Alley doesn%26#39;t have men%26#39;s suits. For suits, you%26#39;re best bet is to go to one of the many suit stores on Los Angeles St., between 7th and Olympic. Good prices, but they don%26#39;t usually bargain too much. T-shirts, shoes, kids clothes, etc. will be available at Santee Alley.
