Some information needed for January 1 year anniversary trip

I%26#39;m doing some research into ideas for my husband and I%26#39;s first anniversary and one of my ideas is tahoe. Here is what i%26#39;m looking for: Luxury room (comfortable bed, fireplace, spa tub) in a location where we can easily get up and walk to get a cup of coffee and breakfast but also close driving distance to the other great restaurants in tahoe (any recommendations??). We aren%26#39;t skiiers, just want to hang out in a nice room by the fireplace, maybe take a sleigh ride, we love to gamble (but all the casino rooms look tired and no fireplaces), eat some really good fattening food, maybe spend a day shopping for a few hours, spend some time in an outdoor jacuzzi/pool (do they have those at these resorts).

I%26#39;m worried about the time of year that we are coming to tahoe, that we will be stuck wherever we stay (meaning that the road conditions will be too bad for us to get down a mountain do any of those other things).

So far the rooms i%26#39;ve found that look like what we are looking for are: The ';new village'; at northstar and the resort at squaw or renting a vacation home (that would probably be too large for us but seem to be the same amenities for the same or less price). What i%26#39;m worried about is that since it seems Northstar and Squaw are on a mountain that the weather will be too bad for us to get out and do any of the other things we want to do. Any advice would be appreciated, also, to anyone who has stayed at either of the places I mentioned, are they as posh as they look on the website?

Black Bear Inn south lake Tahoe. Marriott Grand South Lake Tahoe.

Both have what you want.

Hope your January trip gets snow. Last year there was no snow on the ground at street level when we were there, but it changes every year. Did you check out the Lakeside Cottages at the Hyatt Resort in Incline Village when you were looking at hotels? They are fabulous with the famous Hyatt bed, are on the beach, have fireplaces and sunset views over the water. There is a casino at the Hyatt, as it is located in NV, but it%26#39;s a 25 min. drive to SLT for the other 5 casinos. Also some casinos at Crystal Bay. Fabulous Spa facilities on site, too.

Great restaurants are the Lone Eagle Grill at the Hyatt, Le Bistro and La Fondue, Big Water Grill up the road, Soule Domaine, Wolddale%26#39;s, PlumpJack and many others around the lake.

Happy Anniversary!

The Marriott Timber Lodge is very nice, some of the rooms here are Villas which were gorgeous when we toured them under the Timeshare invitaton this past May. The property open directly out to Heavenly Village which has heated sidewalks in the winter, a movie theater and some restaurants and shops, very nice. They also have a couple of outdoor jacuzzis at this property. :)

In South Lake Tahoe, Cafe Fiore is great for Italain food, a small venue, so make reservations well in advance here. Evan%26#39;s Gourmet Cafe is also amazing, we celebrated my birthday here last May. Harvey%26#39;s 19 Kitchen also has great food with stunning panoramic views of the area, it is located at Harvey%26#39;s casino, you can walk to Harvey%26#39;s from the Timber Lodge. Enjoy your trip! :)

Here is another idea. The prices are really not that bad:

Rather than fantasy inn try secrets inn. It%26#39;s located near the state line and would be within walking distance to dining, shopping and the village area.
