Birding at Christmas

Would appreciate all help in trying to find the best birding spots at Christmas time. Much appreciated.

Birding at Christmas

We go up to Pt Reyes any times during the year and always prefer to stay right on the water of Tomales Bay near Marshall.

There are B %26amp; Bs in town...but not many have much privacy...nor are any on the water with views.

There is a fabulous lodge style home available for rent to 1-4 people only called Barrracca. ( http://www.vrbo.com/43075 )

From there you can drive to the national park to hike, whale watch, or to the charming town.

Theres also many seafood resterauants in the area. Day trips to Napa, Sonoma, up HWY 1 are fun jaunts. But it very magical just to be on the Bay and watch the wildlife, bird watch or changing clouds and sunsets !

Give yourself at least 2-5 days to explore this area........its like the best of California 40-50 years ago.

Very rural ranch country.....The movie at the Bear Valley visitor center is a must and you can hike out to the beach from there.

Good Luck

Woodpecker Trail located behind the HQ (Bear Valley Visitor%26#39;s Center) of the Point Reyes Nat%26#39;l Seashore (which is worth a visit itself). The rangers there can tell you if there%26#39;s anything special to see; also where the most birds are on any give day:

Happy birding!
