How Do You Get Your Wine Home?

Quick question for forum members...when you%26#39;ve visited Napa...how have you decided to get your good shipped home? Do most people order wine by the case and have the winery ship it directly home? What about if you pick up a few bottles at a couple of places...what options do you have?

Thanks.

Bill

Bottom line is ...it depends. The winery can dhip it directly to your home as long as there are no restrictions on shipping alcohol into your state. There are a handful of states that have laws such that wine cannot be ship to those states from the winery. I don%26#39;t know if you can ship to yourself or what if any restrictions occur. This is from a winery website....

Wine can only be shipped to AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, LA, MI, MN, MO, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, SC, TX, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, %26amp; WY. Some state restrictions apply.

You will find a LOT of responses to this in past posts. Just use the Napa forums search function with keywords ';ship wine';.

Here is a post we just updated for you:

Have you had a chance to read through the Napa FAQs? Lots of great info in there as well:

(We will work on getting a ';how to ship wine back'; section added to the Napa FAQs shortly).

Have a great time in Napa! :)

We used Buffalo Shipping Company in Napa for the miscellaneous purchases we made. All other large purchases were shipped by the winery, but we live in a state they most can ship to. Have fun!

First, if you order 6 bottles then its worth it for you to have the winery ship it directly to your home. If they can not ship it to your state, then use stagecoach or buffalo. Some hotels act as a middleman so you can leave your bottles with them and then one of the 2 companies I mentioned will ship the wine. Also, there are tasting rooms in napa which represent small wineries. Not only will they ship what you order from them but some will ship your other bottles.

Believe me, its very easy to get your wine shipped home and i live in Nj.

We pick up a bottle here and there to get enough together for a case. It%26#39;s not worth shipping any less. Then we leave them all with our B%26amp;B and they take care of everything. Couldn%26#39;t be easier and we have a nice variety of wines to enjoy throughout the year.

Remember to ship food as well if you%26#39;re flying. Obviously, you can%26#39;t take liquids but airport security even took my garlic aoli away from Gilroy ! Sigh !

We buy a shipping box from one of the wineries and check it as checked baggage. It%26#39;s WAY cheaper than shipping and we%26#39;ve done this from all over the world and haven%26#39;t lost a bottle yet. : )
