We will be in Morro Bay 7/30-8/3
I have heard Giovannis has great seafood that won%26#39;t break our budget. We are a family of 4. We love seafood as in Phoenix we dont get real good seafood. We are staying at the Blue Sail Inn. Any reccomendations as to where to shop, eat, activities would be awesome.
our flight lands in San Jose at 8:00 am then with getting a rental car..will hopefully be out of the city by 10 am. How long should it take to get there via the scenic pacific highway 1?
Where do locals go?You are a little ';optimistic'; on how long it takes to get there.
From the San Jose airport to Morro Bay, it will take more like 4 hours using HIghway 101. If you go Highway 1, it will be about 2 1/2 to Monterey and about 3 to get to Morro Bay if you don%26#39;t stop (i.e. figure 6 hours).
In Morro Bay Dorns Breaker Cafe is a favorite - good food and good view of the rock.

Where do locals go?I figured being out of the city of san jose around 10 am, then on our way to morro bay. I guess we will take the 101 instead of the PCH1 trying to shave off a few hrs of time. Is this route scenic at all? any mountains?
I was thinking of maybe taking the drive up toward big sur from morro bay after we do the hearst castle tour.I just wanted to drive the coast both ways is all lol.
If you like fine dining, Orchids at the Inn at Morro Bay is very nice, they have beautiful views of Morro Rock from the dining room there and very good food. They also have a small day spa there if you like spa treatments. Enjoy the coast and the cooler weather! :)
The 101 is a long drive through farm land and barren fields. It%26#39;s more scenic than driving I-5, but not by much. It%26#39;s really sad to look toward the west and think to yourself how much more scenic it is on the other side of that coastal range with the impressive ocean views and hairpin curves which can leave you on the edge of your seat! Ah.... I love that!
Take the 1. It just means you get to Morro Bay later in the day. But you won%26#39;t miss out on all that gorgeous drive.
