Xmas in San Diego with a 4 yo - good idea?

How is the weather? crowd? special events for Xmas?

I%26#39;m planning on a week vacation with my husband and my 4 years old boy for the last week of Dec. I%26#39;d like to go to Sea world, legoland, Zoo, La Jolla, some shopping and family fun.

I think it is a fun time to be here. YOu cannot tell exactly what the temps willb e but you can count on high 50s and 60s an dIF it gets to 70F youwill be lucky. Thisisnot Florida so do not expect hot weather and a hot ocean. Hotel pools will be heated and you can swim there. There are often good hotel deasl available. We have boat parades where they are all decorated for the holidays,. there is anoutdoor skating rink downtonw at that time and the hotels all ahve specila activities and decorations especialy the historic HotleDelCoronado. InBalboaPark the OldGlobe theater does How the Grinch Stole Xmas and downtown the SanDiegoRep always does a different version of aXmas Carol(different settings different eras etc.)

The weather can be cold - you will need a jacket! Probably less crowded than the summer, though. Some fun things with a 4-year old:

- the Wild Animal Park (about 20 miles noth and east from downtown San Diego) sets up Christmas lights - very nice. The Zoo may also have lights, but I am not sure

- Quail Gardens, in Encinitas, north from downtown san Diego, also has Xmas lights. Less crowded than the Wild Animal Park

- the beaches are still nice though the water is cold. La Jolla ';childrens beach'; has a colony of seals that hang out on the sand

- Horton Plaza (downtown) and Seaport Village are fun shopping plazas. I personally prefer Fashion Valley (Friar%26#39;s Road) or UTC (La Jolla Village Drive)

- If the weather is nice, Balboa park is great. There is a Carousal and a mini-train ride there.

- December Nights in Balboa Park consist of numerous little shops, ethnic foods, very nice Organ music in the Park, ....But I think this is early in December
