I have reservations at both right now for a 2 day weekday stay in late July to visit Disneyland. I had a recommendation for the Embassy Suites and my family (w/kids 7 and 4) usually likes those hotels, and I love the breakfasts - but worried about the distance and taking the shuttle. Based on trip advisor reviews, I then booked the Camelot since it is close, but worried about the beds and some mixed reviews...any suggestions?
The other factors that we%26#39;re invited to friends in Irvine for dinner one night, but I think we%26#39;d have to leave so early with the traffic (3? 3:30?) I%26#39;d rather be close by to maximize our time at the park...
Also, what is the best way to see Princesses? I have (sadly) two Princess obsessed daughters.
Thanks! You can tell I%26#39;m really relaxed about all of this right now :)
Camelot Inn vs Embassy Suites / princesses
I think staying near the park entrance is worth the ';continental'; breakfast instead of a hot breakfast. So I%26#39;d choose Camelot over Embassy because it%26#39;s so close. I really liked the Best Western Park Place Inn for this reason.
I%26#39;m not sure about traveling to Irvine, but maybe someone else can help? Also, if it were me, I%26#39;d ask the friends to come to us! But that%26#39;s because we usually fly, so we don%26#39;t have a car.
The very best way to see the Princesses is the Ariel%26#39;s Grotto lunch or dinner in California Adventure. It was FANTASTIC!! We had 5 or 6 major princesses come to our table and we were able to take photos with them, talk to them and get their photograph. The food is relatively good, and not that expensive if you compare it to other meals in the park. You do need to make reservations, though, because it was quite crowded!
We also enjoyed the new Princess-themed area near Toon Town (I don%26#39;t remember the official name). They had a show that taught kids how to ';be'; a princess (or prince) and there was an opportunity to see the princesses. There are 4 or 5 of them there at a time. The line was long, though, and right when we got up to the point where we could take photos with the characters, the cast changed and all the ';good'; princesses were replaced with non-princesses (fairy godmother, wendy, alice, etc) which did NOT thrill us! But you could luck out and see all the ';good'; princesses and not pay extra at Ariel%26#39;s Grotto. To us, it%26#39;s worth it to go to Ariel%26#39;s Grotto.
Here%26#39;s another Princess tip: You%26#39;ll see lots of little girls in princess dresses and your kids will want to buy princess dresses. But they are sooo expensive in the park ($70+). We bought princess dresses at Target for $20 and packed them. Our daughter walked around as Sleeping Beauty for a fraction of the price! If you want to buy dresses in the park, the best selection is just outside of the castle near fantasy land. They have crowns there for a decent price, too.
Good luck with your princesses!
Camelot Inn vs Embassy Suites / princesses
Thank you very much! This is very useful, especially about the princesses. We%26#39;re planning to go with Camelot too for the convenience.
