Hotel DeAnza??

I see a few reviews for this hotel here on Trip Advisor, and I am confused about how to think of this property - two great, glowing reviews. Two ';hated it'; reviews - one that mentioned BED BUGS!!!??? Yuck!

Anyone with first hand info on this place - recent info? I am hoping to hear a few more ';great'; reviews to hopefully balance the two bad ones.

Thanks for your help!! Got the first part of our trip to San Jose planned, now just trying to work out the second!

Hotel DeAnza??

The De Anza is a historic hotel. Every hotel has its ups and downs, bad nights, etc.

As for the bed bug issue, yuck. Best thing to do is ask the management what they%26#39;ve done. It%26#39;s a problem that they would have had to treat in the time the reports of bed bugs appeared on the reviews and now. Then see how comfortable you feel with their answer.

This from last year about the resurgence of bed bugs nationally:

Hotel DeAnza??

Thanks for the reply. I read a lot of reviews here of the hotel, and finally decided that 1 bad review for every two good reviews were not odds I felt comfortable with. So we booked the Moorpark. The AAA rate was only $20 more than the hotwire rate for the DeAnza, and once you figure in the cost of the parking (Moorpark parking is free) it worked out the same. And just about every review of the Moorpark is great. So thanks for the input, though! And I am so grossed out after reading the article you posted the link to. Yuck. ;)

The restaurant and the place is nice. Its not the nicest in downtown San Jose....the hotels that are in that class are the Marriott, Fairmont.

Another nice one (historic) but nice is:

the Hotel St. Claire.

Compare among those 4 and be sure Hotel De Anza has the best price. If not I%26#39;d go with one of the others.

I like the restaurant at Hotel de Anza, its a great location especially if you are going to events at the San Jose Arena, and close to walking to many restaurants, etc.

It will be an enjoyable stay - but think of it more as a 3 star (not a 4 or 5) .

In general, service in San Jose can be mixed. We%26#39;ve seen some very good service and some so-so service throughout the area. I have had excellent service at the restaurant - and have been fine when we asked questions of the hotel staff.

The Moorpark is in a very suburban and somewhat residental area. Be prepared for lots of strip malls and fast food.
