5th time to SD--new ideas?

Are your teens athletic? Have you tried surfinglessons, sea kayaking, renting bikes and riding Mission Bay Park,Coronado ,down Mt Soledad? Have you walked/hiked Torrey Pines State Park and watched the hang gliders at the TorreyPines gliderport?

Have you walked through the campus of Unv of Ca SD to see their outdoor sculptures.

Have you driven north to the other beaches inSDcounty ?

Have you visited QuailGardens or Swamis Meditation gardens in Encinitas? How about the outlet malls in either Carlsbad or at the border- LasAmericas. There%26#39;s also th eMuseum of Making Music inCarlsbad as well.

Then there are outdoor concerts, Shakespeare at the Globe inBalboaPark, Broadway shows downtown or outdoors also inBalboaPark.

Try a 1/2 or 3/4 day deep sea fishing trip. Hope you don%26#39;r get sea sick.

Aviation Museum

Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum, Campo

Have you been out East to the small mountain town of Julian? It is about an hour drive East, and famous for their apple pies. A great day trip!

Well, I will be there with my teens the same time as you!. Last year we did the Midway tour..they liked that. This year I am taking them to the Whaley House..the most haunted house in America!(words from the Travel Channel)

Would your kids like surfing lessons? There are several small companies offering lessons for a day or two, up to a week. Surf Divas is the well-known one, but there are many others. This is a fun activity for the entire family.

Other ideas: the Birch Aquarium, ice skating at UTC (University Town Center, a mall in La Jolla), the Fleet Science Center and the Natural History Museum at Balboa Park, seal/sea lion viewing at the Children%26#39;s Pool at La Jolla.

I forgot to add that last year we also went to the Del Mar Racetrack. Mt teens and younger one liked that too.

The most recent issue of Budget Travel magazine has an article on 25 things to see and do in San Diego.

I like so many of these ideas.

I really like the idea of Del Mar Racetrack, since that is really different and the track is in a beautiful area. “Where the surf meets the turf.” The kids can’t bet, but you can bet for them and it is a fun experience. Also, there are concerts there. The racing meet is going on during your stay, so why not go!

You could also go to a Padres major league baseball game. There are some home games while you are there.

I really like the idea of Julian too. Except that it is too early for the apple harvest and that is the best time to go. It is a nice drive, though, and good clean mountain air.

How about Tijuana, Point Loma/Cabrillo Monument, Belmont Park,

Kobey%26#39;s Swap Meet, Knott%26#39;s Soak City.
