my husband and i might go to disneyland for our 18th anniversary this september. we go once or twice a year so it%26#39;s not that unusual but our first vacation 24 years ago was to disneyland hotel so we thought it seemed appropriate as we%26#39;ve never spent an anniversary there (usually hawaii %26amp; was going to be paris but don%26#39;t want to leave the sick 18 year old lhasa apso for too long!)
anyway, is there anything special we can do? something like putting your name up on scoreboard at a kings game or something? somewhere to eat where they do something special??
thanks

You just made me remember that it seems like last summer DL was choosing families to ride in the Parade of Dreams. I don%26#39;t know if they still do that or not and how you get choosen. I bet that TripAdvisor member Darbeer knows. He will probably answer your post, or maybe you can post to him directly if not. Basically, there is a car at the beginning of the parade, sort of like a Grand Marshall%26#39;s car in a parade, and your name is announced and I guess they would announce if you have a special occasion that day. I don%26#39;t know - maybe there was a contest and people were picked for that.
You might want to find out if the City Hall in DL gives special buttons for anniverseries like they do for birthdays, then you would have many castmembers wishing you a happy one. That would be nice, but I don%26#39;t know if that is only for birthdays.
I would see if you can steer the Mark Twain. You go out to the top deck as soon as you get on (try to be among the first on) and knock on the Captain%26#39;s door (doesn%26#39;t say Captain, but it is behind the wheelhouse where he sits). Tell the castmember that you are celebrating a big day and would like to help him steer the boat. You sign a guestbook and get shown how it%26#39;s done and then get to do it for a little while. Then you get a certificate when you leave. Walt and Lillian Disney celebrated their anniversary on the Mark Twain before Disneyland openned.
If you are going on a Friday or Saturday night there is probably going to be a swing band there. I know they are there every weekend in the summer, but I don%26#39;t know if they skip any in the off season. Anyway, you could go to one of the sets and request a special song. If you are interested in that I will give you the names and/or web address for the bands that normally play there and you can keep checking for their schedules to see when/if they will be there. DL is kind of slow about getting that info up, although maybe it is already there on the official Disney website!
Lastly, ask around with your business associates and see if anyone has any kind of connection that will get you into Club33, the exclusive member only restaurant above the Blue Bayou restauarant. That would be a special anniversary dinner for you!

thanks so much for those great suggestions!!
isn%26#39;t there a website people go to to get disney info that%26#39;s not sponsored by disney? i thought i%26#39;ve seen people refer to it before
Yes, for instance, I belong to Intercot. Intercot used to have a separate site for Disneyland Resort but the site was merged with the WDW site. There are still separate message boards for Disneyland and there is a lot of information about DLR. I will paste a link below. I actually asked about the Parade of Dreams Grand Marshall Car on the boards there and got back answers that indicate you cannot request it because the Grand Marshall is choosen by random.

There is also Mouse Planet, which may be the most visited fan site with the most information, and Mice Age. And even more, I think. TripAdvisor member Darkbeer, who contributes a lot to the Anaheim Forum, also contributes to Disney fan sites and has a totally cool job passing on information and pics to fans on-line! He is the go-to person for DLR questions here on TA. He is also a great resource for information regarding Knott%26#39;s Berry Farm.
Since you are a fan of DL, you should look at the website Visions Fantastic. It%26#39;s fabulous. You can see video, hear music, and share with other Disney fans. It%26#39;s very professionally done.
Also, if you google Disneyland you can find websites done by individual fans that are interesting.
