Help with my itinerary

Hi all,

Here are the plans so far:

Leave SB for LA stopping at Getty Center en route. Expect to get to Elan Hotel at approx. 5 pm on Thursday (what do you recommend we do that night in terms of sightseeing?)

Friday am - is it worth doing the Warner Bros. VIP tour? Looked on website and tour last 2.25 hours which is fine, first available tour that day is 10.20 am (how will we be fixed with traffic from the Elan to get there in time for that tour, what time should we leave to be there 20 mins before?)

Friday pm - could we go on to Universal that afternoon, not interested in any rides there, just a look around the studio - is it worth it? How far from Warner Bros.

Saturday am - Perhaps a city tour (not more than 3 hours - any recommendations?)

Saturday pm - head to Santa Monica for the afternoon?

I would be really interested to hear if people think this is all doable, don%26#39;t mind sticking to a timetable if everything is worth it.

Thanks

C

Help with my itinerary

Night one, I suggest heading over to Farmer%26#39;s Market/Grove for dinner, or better - go to LA County Museum, which is open late on Thursdays for cocktails and jazz in the courtyard (you can actually do all 3).

Friday you should leave your hotel by 9AM, just to be safe since you don%26#39;t know the area, but WB is really just about 25 minutes away from Elan. Leave at 9AM. You can definitely visit Universal after WB, they are just blocks from each other.

Saturday I don%26#39;t recommend a city tour - you%26#39;ll just be stuck in a bus and see hedges and driveways, nothing interesting. Do it yourself:

Take Sunset Blvd toward PCH, it%26#39;s a lovely drive, then head south on PCH to the Pier. Park, then spend the day in Santa Monica and Venice, perhaps rent bikes to bike along the beach/bike path. Have lunch on the beach at Back on the Beach, just north of the Pier.

Actually, the LA County Art Museum%26#39;s Jazz Series in the courtyard is on Friday nights although the museum is open on Thursdays until 8pm

I%26#39;d opt for the Grove for Thursday night, Watch the fountain ';perform'; to special music; have drinks at La Piazza, dinner at Morel%26#39;s, catch a movie at the 50%26#39;s-style multi-plex. Pretend you are in a little ';town square'; in Iowa.

Thanks, will defnitely check that out.

Since I first posted, I have booked an 11.20 VIP tour of Warner Bros. (tickets were selling out fast on their website). So if we decide to go to Universal after that (VIP tour will finish at 13.45) will it be worth it? We are only interested in the Studio Tour at Universal and I have posted separately on here as to whether we can just book that, if we still have to purchase the general ticket to do the ST we might not bother with it at all as we are definitely not interested in the rides etc.

Thanks for all your help so far, will definitely post a TR when I get back.

Only 2 sleeps and we are off.............

Hi HopSkipJump, me again...........can we walk to the Grove from the Elan or should be take a taxi (car not an option due to drinks with dinner).

Thanks

You could definitely fit in enough Universal to make it worth your while, it%26#39;s just a ten minute drive from Warner Brothers. 3:30pm to 10pm would be a fun Universal quickie.

You can walk from your hotel to the groove, it%26#39;s just one long cityblock. About a 10 minute walk i would guess
